Quantitative method was utilized in the study by selecting four hundred Filipino respondents to complete a five-section survey which included a Likert-scale indicating the constructs of the main latent variables. The results were drafted and analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis in Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The re-specified model proves that 5 latent variables have significant effects to each other as they are observed to have direct and indirect relationships. It is further concluded that awareness on environmental condition can impact the perceived effect of it to both public health and economy, and this perception can both lead to positive attitude towards environmental protection. Results also shows that the costs of environmental pollution to Philippine economy in terms of public health is inevitable and unambiguous and one method to estimate it is through health care expenditure attributed to pollution.

For risks that do not have a proper quantitative probability model, a fuzzy logic system can aid model the cause-and-effect relationships, assess the degree of risk exposure and rank the key risks in a reliable way, considering both the available data and experts’ opinions. For companies with broad risk exposure, diversified business and operations in multiple geographic regions, the long list of risks that need to be monitored makes in-depth risk analysis excessive, especially when there are entangled relationships among risk factors. Such an analysis could be costly and extremely tedious without the use of a fuzzy logic system. In addition, fuzzy logic systems include rules that clearly explain the linkage, dependence and relationships among modeled factors. It is helpful for identifying risk mitigation solutions. Resources can then be used to mitigate the risks with the highest level of exposure and relatively low hedging cost. This paper studied the application of Fuzzy Logic System Approach in determining the company’s value-at-risk and also to assess risk analysis. This was applied to Technology Hardware and Equipment Industry in the Philippine. It was explored in areas where fuzzy logic models may be applied to improve risk assessment and risk decision-making. It discussed the methodology, framework and process of using fuzzy logic systems for risk management.

In the Philippines, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) data showed that there were 15,572 road accidents nationwide for the whole of 2014, with 1,252 persons killed and 9,347 others injured. A comprehensive study was conducted which aims to determine which road traffic accident factors are significant with the severity of road traffic accidents, determine which factors are significant per level of severity, and determine the human factors associated in the occurrence of road traffic accidents that are significant with the levels of severity. Markov Chain Switching Approach enables to determine the probability of occurrence of road traffic accidents and the significant factors that affects the severity of a road traffic accident since it takes into consideration the heterogeneity of the variables and the different time-varying and time-dependent constraints which are not considered by other regression techniques used in road traffic accidents severity literature.

With this, the ability of direct selling companies to manage its sellers will be a challenge. Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), or the monetary value a customer is expected to contribute to the company before churning, is one measure that can be used as a basis for managing customers and for this matter, the computation of the CLV must be accurate enough to be used effectively. However, CLV computation that is specific only for direct selling companies is not yet established. This research used Data Mining Techniques, specifically Binomial Logistic Regression Analysis and Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network to develop a model that can predict CLV based on historical customer's transaction and demographic data. Through Binomial Logistic Regression Analysis, the direct seller's average Service Lifetime was found to be 12 years and the significant factors that affects customer churn was determined as well. Through Multiple Linear Regression Analysis the significant factors that affect customer profit contribution was identified. Markov Chain Analysis was then used to establish possible customer states and a state transition probability matrix. Finally, Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network with 1 hidden layer was used to establish a neural network predictive model. The results are used to develop the final model, which was based on the Present Worth formula. The resulting model has a hold out relative error of 0.018, which indicates a good predictive accuracy of the equation. The model can be used by direct selling companies to help them manage their customers more effectively.

Resilience has been defined as the ability of a system faced with disruption to absorb, adapt, recover and convert the impact in an efficient way, while maintaining its required functionality. Correspondingly, Resilience Engineering (RE) is the design methodology for resilience, looking at how a system function through recognition, measurement and improvement of resilient work. To this end, this study presents a mixed methods approach to assess organizational resilience in the military disaster response sector based on RE using fuzzy logic and manifest-latent content analysis. Considering the opinion of disaster resilience experts and being validated by the triangulation procedure used, result show that the military disaster response sector's resilience level is satisfactory.

A correlational research design, using linear regression analysis, aimed to understand the relationship between health issues, work environment, and efficiency that can affect the productivity of middle-aged and older workers in the shoe industry. There are 139 respondents from 16 shoe manufacturing companies within Marikina City participated in this study. Rapid Upper Limb Assessment and 10-point rating scale survey questionnaires, worker evaluation, and company evaluation checklists were used to gather data directly from the respondents and to assess their posture, tasks, and work environment. RULA scores show that 53 out of 139 workers (38%) experience medium to very high MSD risk. Chi-square test of significance and correlation test results show that there are fourteen (14) statistically significant factors with moderate linear relationships that affect ...

In dealing with customer emotions in products/services, Kansei Engineering (KE) is applied. A comprehensive case study in luxury hotels was conducted. Eighty one Indonesian, 75 Singaporean, and 74 Japanese tourists participated in this survey. It aims to investigate the relationships among constructs during service encounter process. The finding shows that emotions (affective process) play a significant role as a complement to cognitive process in influencing customer satisfaction. Among 3 populations, Japanese was found to be more Kansei-oriented customer.
