The aim of the current paper is to analyse the presence and influence of the short- and long-term outcomes of hyponatremia on ovarian cancer patients submitted to surgery for advanced stage ovarian cancer. Method: 57 patients diagnosed with advanced stage ovarian cancer were submitted to surgery between 2014-2020. The patients were further classified according to the preoperative value of sodium into two groups. Results: there were 21 cases with preoperative normal values of sodium and respectively 36 cases with hyponatremia. Patients with preoperative hyponatremia associated a significantly higher rate of early postoperative complications and a significantly poorer long-term outcome. Therefore, cases with hyponatremia reported a mean disease-free survival of 10.8 months and respectively a mean overall survival of 18.5 months while cases with normal natrium levels reported a mean disease-free survival of 31.4 months and respectively a mean overall survival of 49.7 months (p=0.0001 and p 0.001). Conclusions: patients with lower preoperative values of sodium have a higher risk of developing postoperative complications and a significantly poorer outcome when compared to cases presenting normal levels of sodium preoperatively.

The aim of the current paper is to investigate the influence of the number of circulating platelets alone or in association with other biomarkers on the perioperative outcomes of endometrial cancer patients.

Meanwhile, this dissection should be performed in an oncological manner in order to obtain the premises of a radical resection with negative margins. The aim of the current paper is to discuss about the influence of this anatomical arterial particularity and the possibility of obtaining a resection with curative intent in pancreatic head adenocarcinoma.

Circulating platelets play an essential role in the immune system and furthermore in tumor development and proliferation. Therefore, the correlation ship between different neoplasia and the number of platelets has been widely studied. The aim of the current paper is to investigate the correlation ship between platelet number and tumoral endometrial transformation. Material and methods. Between January 2022 and June 2022 22 patients with endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial cancer were submitted to surgery. The serum levels of platelets were determined and compared to those reported in a similar group of patients in whom the endometrial lining was normal. Results. Patients diagnosed with endometrial cancer presented a significantly higher number of platelets as well as a significantly higher platelet volume when compared to patients diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia and respectively to those in whom a normal endometrial lining was found. Conclusions. The serum number of platelets and their volume seem to be positively correlated with the aggressivity of the tumoral transformation of the endometrial lining and should be therefore considered as part of the elements which should be analyzed when discussing the best therapeutic option in such patients.

Case: a 54 year old patient diagnosed with an isolated metastasis at the level of upper abdomen invading the pancreatic head, the portal vein and the common hepatic artery was submitted to surgery. Venous reconstruction was performed by using a Goretex patch while arterial reconstruction was performed by using a saphenous graft which was placed between the celiac trunk and the proper hepatic artery. Conclusion: extended local visceral and vascular resections might be needed in order to achieve complete cytoreduction for relapsed ovarian cancer.

Their prolonged healing times, economic burden, diminished quality of life, increased infection risk, and impact on patients’ mobility and functionality make them a major concern for healthcare professionals. Purpose: This review offers a multi-perspective analysis of the medical literature focusing on chronic wound management. Methods used: We evaluated 48 articles from the last 21 years registered in the MEDLINE and Global Health databases. The articles included in our study had a minimum of 20 citations, patients > 18 years old, and focused on chronic, complex, and hard-to-heal wounds. Extracted data were summarized into a narrative synthesis using the same health-related quality of life instrument. Results: We evaluated the efficacy of existing wound care therapies from classical methods to modern co...

However, in certain cases other metastatic sites might be encountered such as the ovaries; however, these situations have been rarely encountered. The aim of the current paper is to present the case of a 39 year old patient with previous history of pulmonary neuroendocrine tumor, submitted to palliative radio-chemotherapy who was diagnosed with two large ovarian tumors and high volume of ascites which impaired even more the respiratory function. The patient was submitted to hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy, the histopathological studies demonstrating the metastatic origin of the tumors.

Although imagistic studies improved, the incidence of adenomyosis is still underestimated, in a significant number of cases the final diagnostic of adenomyosis being established on the histopathological specimen of hysterectomy. The aim of the current paper is to discuss about the most efficient therapeutic strategies in adenomyosis.

Oligohydramnios is both a consequence of fetal malformations and of uteroplacental insufficiency.... more Oligohydramnios is both a consequence of fetal malformations and of uteroplacental insufficiency. Its existence is associated with a high rate of both antepartum and intrapartum complications. It is vital that its occurrence is detected as early as possible so that we can manage it correctly. The main causes of its occurrence are identified and described in this review. The management of oligohydramnios is most often expectant, the timing of delivery also being determined by Doppler examination and changes in parameters measuring fetal growth and development.
