The former was known to occur in Kars and Ağri provinces but was found recently in Kayseri province as well. The latter is a new record for the flora of Turkey from Şanlıurfa province close to the Syrian border. Full descriptions of the genus and the species occurring in Turkey are given and the case of Aellenia is discussed. Images and distributional data including maps are provided.

The specimens from the GAP region were collected between the years 2004-2006, photographed, and their areas were determined. The Flora of Turkey and The East Aegean Island was used to identify the plant samples. Amygdalus orientalis Miller, A. arabica Oliv. A. lycioides Spach var. lycioides and A. communis L. taxa were determined and their morphologic, ecologic and taxonomic characteristics were explained. Two of them were new records for Sanliurfa. INTRODUCTION According to four volume of books named "Flora of Turkey and East Aegean Islands" edited by P.H. Davis, there are 12 taxa belonging to the genus Amygdalus in Turkey. These are fallows:

At the end of this study, it was underlined that the dominant vegetation type was steppe in the region and different steppe associations were determined. These were also; Festuco callieri-Teucrietum poliae ass. nova, Astragalo strictifolii-Salvietum sclarea ass. nova, Phlomido bruguieri-Thymbretum spicatae ass. nova, Asphodelo aestivum-Teucrietum poliae ass. nova, Cynodo dactyloni-Bromoetum danthoniae ass. nova, and Prosopo farctae-Avenetum erianthae ass. nova. During the floristic surveys, 153 taxa belonging to 26 families and 107 genera were identified. Poaceae with 31 taxa (20.3%), Asteraceae with 24 taxa (15.7%), Fabaceae with 22 (14.4%), and Apiaceae with 13 taxa (8.5%) were the richest families.

Sarisu, Agzibircala, Akgol, Candargol, Buyuk Alagol, Gokgol, Hacigabul, Buyuk-Şor, Asik Kara, Karacug golleri ve Kizilagac Korfezi su-bataklik ekosistemlerinin genis yayilis gosterdigi bolgelerdir. Bölgede hakim olan frigana vejetasyonunda karakteristik olan bazı bitkiler meyve verimliliği yönünden araştırılmıştır. Bitki örtüsünde bazı faydalı bitki türlerinin bol yayılış gösterdiği ve rasyonel kullanım imkanlarının olduğu belirlenmiştir. Arazi çalışmaları sırasında toplanan bitki örnekleri içerisinde:

Research area was divided into 62 geobotanical units which consist 7 vegetation zones, 20 regions, 24 sub-regions and 17 micoregions. Vegetation types in the region according to the vertical zones; frigana, mountain-steppe, desert and semi-desert zones deployed broader while halophytic desert, high mountain meadows, subnival-nival and mountain-tundra zones deployed narrower. The most abundant vegetation was located in the sub-desert and frigana while the lowest number of vegetation was desert, mountain-tundra zones and high mountain steppe. One of the vegetation types in the region was rare arid forest and frigana units. In the associations where the species belonging to the genus Astragalus and Acantholimon were spreading, Onobrychis cornuta species also emerges at Şerur and Ordubad provincial boundaries.

In favourable years, the average phytomass could reach 130 gr/cm 2 . The total underground and aboveground phytomass of the steppe vegetation averaged for eight years amounted to 932.6 gr/cm 2 . It was found that the phytomass varied between 41-497 gr/m 2 , with aboveground phytomass registering 5-29 gr/m 2 and underground phytomass recording 35-473 gr/m 2 for the three associations. The ratio of aboveground/underground phytomass has changed from 1:0.3 to 1:0.7. About 30-50 % of the total phytomass was provided by Poaceae (Festuca valesiaca, Stipa lessingiana and Botriochloa ischaemum). Aboveground phytomass amounted to 0-30 cm (90 %) and underground phytomass to 0-20 cm (80 %).

Between Abseron peninsula and Astaraya (100-150 m shore zone) of the shore, 34 families, 93 geneses, and 134 species were defined. In the study area 17 species are submerged in water, 25 of them are partially submerged and 79 of them are expanded in the swamps and damp places. In the region, desert, semi-desert, swamp, and forest ecosystems, sandy-desert, halophytic damp desert, halophytic arid desert, subtropical semi-desert, ephimeric subtropical semi-desert, swamp, meadow-swamp, shore plain forest, and shore tugay forest, consisting of 48 formations and 57 associations were identified. The productivity of the ground surface and underground phytomasses were 40-6400 gr and 50-4560 gr, respectively.

Sixteen Pteridophytes and 487 Spermatophytes were determined. Two of Spermatophytes are Gymnospermae while 485 of them are Angiospermae (98 Monocotyledones and 389 Dicotyledones). The richest families in taxa are Asteraceae, Poaceae, Brassicaceae, and Fabaceae (55 Asteraceae, 49 Poaceae, 28 Brassicaceae, and 27 Fabaceae). Phytogeographic elements are listed in order as: Euro-Siberian 247 (49.1%), Irano-Turanian 17 (3.4%), Mediterranean 6 (1.2%), multiregional-unknown phytogeographic root 233 (46.3%). Hemicryptophytes are the richest with 224 (44.5%) taxa and it is followed by cryptophytes 144 (28.6%), therophytes 53 (10.5%), chamaephytes 59 (11.7%), phanerophytes 19 (3.8%), vasicular paras...
