The potential risk of disputes must always be assessed. Timing and adherence to agreed deadlines are very important in business, as any delay can cause significant damage, and the legal entity can suffer significant losses. In a dispute between business partners, people tend to go to the court and fight there to the fullest rather than reach an amicable settlement, but there is always a winning and losing party in a litigation. From a long-term perspective, it will be impossible for the disputing parties to work together in the future, and the losing party will always feel great resentment towards the winner. Therefore, litigation is not always an attractive option and in this case mediation is a great way to resolve business disputes due to its expediency. Mediation is a dynamic, structured, interactive process which is focused on the needs, rights, and interest...

Accurate assessment allows the development of strategies for the optimisation of building performance and the selection of appropriate and most efficient refurbishment measures. This paper presents a computer-based integrated building performance assessment methodology based on the multiple-criteria approach. A case study from the Šiauliai district, Lithuania, illustrates the proposed methodology in use. The assessment results indicate what are the worst performing buildings and help with the selection of appropriate refurbishment measures and estimation of possible outcomes.

Thus proper selection of construction products has significantly impacted on construction effectiveness. With the aim of using financial resources for the construction effectively, it is very important that well considered and reasonable decisions should be made regarding the selection of construction materials. Additionally, in seeking to facilitate the work of decision-makers, computer technologies are used that operates according to particular models. These models are based on special mathematical methods in order to facilitate decision-making and apply to a certain decision area. In this article, the possibilities of applying methods for popular decision-making are analyzed regarding the selection of construction materials.

Two opposite definitions/explanations of pure market-oriented education (Cato, 2010) and social-market-oriented education (Amaratunga, 2009) are provided in the paper. Integrated multiple criteria analysis at the micro-, meso- and macro-levels are needed to increase efficiency of the market-oriented higher education reforms. Market-oriented higher education reforms management involves numerous aspects that should be considered in addition to making educational, pedagogical, didactical, economic, political and legal/regulatory decisions. These must include social, culture, ethical, psychological, environmental, technological, technical, organizational and managerial aspects. This article presents a Life Cycle Process Model of a Market-Oriented and Student Centered Higher Education (developed during BELL-CURVE (Built Environment Lifelong Learning Challenging University Responses to Vocational Education) project's activities) for such considerations and discusses certain composite parts of it. To demonstrate the application of this research, two Case Studies from Lithuania are submitted for consideration.

The society is able to react to these challenges only when the education system is modern, flexible and open to constant change and new ideas. The response to needs of swiftly changing society attempted at guarantee of lifelong learning accessible to every citizen necessarily includes use of advanced information and communication technology. Often distance learning is defined as a learning service of the highest quality universally accessible to every citizen. Thus it is very important to assess the quality of distance higher education properly. Realization of the Model and Methodology for an Integrated Analysis of Distance Learning Quality was developed by authors during the EURASIA project, and presented.

With the aim of using financial resources for the construction effectively, it is very important that well considered and reasonable decisions should be made regarding the selection of construction materials. Most of all construction on-line systems seek to find how to make the most economic construction decisions and essentially these decisions are intended only for economic objectives. Construction alternatives that are under evaluation have to be evaluated not only from the economic position, but also take into consideration qualitative, technical, technological and other characteristics. Additionally, in seeking to facilitate the work of decision-makers, computer technologies are used that operates according to particular models. It then generates thousands of alternative learning productivity recommendations based on the compiled Maslow's Pyramid Tables and selects out the most rational of these for the student's specific situation. The Recommender System provides a student with a real-time assessment of his/her own learning productivity and emotional state. This article presents the Recommender System, a case study and a scenario used to test and validate the developed Recommender System and its composite parts to demonstrate its validity, efficiency and usefulness.
