Street art is hard to define; it’s a form of art usually produced in an urban setting, available ... more Street art is hard to define; it’s a form of art usually produced in an urban setting, available to the public at no cost and often placed without consent. It's situated in a moral grey area on the edge of vandalism. The physical location of a piece plays an important part of the meaning of the art itself. Street art is one of the greatest art booms of the 20th century and where there is popularity, there is money. Where there is money, there is theft. Exhibitions and galleries celebrating street art are ironically doing so at great cost to the integrity of the works. This article will look at what consequences the removal of street art has on the community and on the artists themselves.
