Human Dynamics and Design for the Development of Contemporary Societies

This research is built upon the search for the understanding of today's status of the process... more This research is built upon the search for the understanding of today's status of the process of creation, and how it has been considered through time, first through an philosophical approach, then through psychological aesthetics and finally, more recently, through psychology. If all construction of reality are built upon the interaction between physical world, the psychological or subjective world and the world of human creation, it seems to be clear that the creative process is, by excellency, a paradigm of the human experimental or experiential phenomena. Assuming a descriptive case study approach, Boa Nova Tea House of Siza Viera is analyzed. In Siza Vieira´s creative process, the drawing constantly validates his work. Architecture balances between art and technique as a creative act resulting from the artist mental reflective and experimental construction.

Palmela's mansion, one of the current edifices of LisbonBreaks agency, is located in an a... more Palmela's mansion, one of the current edifices of LisbonBreaks agency, is located in an area that underwent radical urbanistic transformations in the late 19 th and the early 20 th centuries. The edifice has an eclectic main façade, which hides the high technology that the mansion presents. The descriptive memory shows a profound knowledge of the technologies of the epoch, disseminated by architectural magazines, namely A Construção Moderna, regarding the type of laminated iron, hydraulic screed, the layer of folded brick, and the concrete bed anchored to the walls by the beams that support the storage room gallery. These building materials allow to conceive more open and fluid spaces, to control more the width and master the natural daylight, fundamental for spaces, as ateliers, foreseen in the 1914's project of the edifice.

The city's spare land division into urban plots correlates to careful planning of the existing ar... more The city's spare land division into urban plots correlates to careful planning of the existing area and the appearance the building to let. The urban buildings as territorial units obey to the legal, economic and aesthetic rules of the city's territorial management. The city as a historical living object and its historical sites may be regarded as monuments. In order to assure their conservation and rehabilitation it is necessary to define building types. Taking into account the building to let in Lisbon from the 16 th century to the 1st half of the 18 th century a reference pattern has been established. It led to the discovery of a historical site. This analysis allowed for a new evaluation of the internal and external image of the building to let.
