Method: Methodology consisted of a questionnaire study of 501 sample size (182 males and 319 females). The mean age of the participants was 19 years. The data collected by the study was analyzed by IBM SPSS Statistics v. 25.0. Pearson’s Chi-square test was used to compare the data. P-value less than 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant. Result: Results showed 284 (56.6%) participants brushed their teeth only once a day,253 (50.4%) brushed their teeth right after waking up, for no less than 2 minutes. 342 (68.2%) participants replaced their tooth brush after every 3 months and 367 (73%) participants do not feel an obligation to brush teeth after consuming sugary foods. 203 (40.5%) participants only use horizontal motions for brushing and 234 (46.7%) participants rely only on bru...

The current research work aimed to ascertain the antibacterial, anti-biofilm, and antioxidative potential of Piper betle leaf extract against bacteria isolated from dental caries. Analysis for the presence of phytochemical compounds revealed compounds, such as tannins, steroids, phenolic compounds, and alkaloids, which were also confirmed by TLC and FTIR. GC-MS analysis elucidated the presence of 20 phytocompounds, among which were some well-reported bioactive compounds. The chloroform extract of P. betle demonstrated good antibacterial activity (7 mm) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) (100 mg mL−1) against Bacillus gaemokensis MW067143, which was the frequent biofilm producer among isolated bacterial strains. Fractions of the extract were isolated through column chromatography, after which the antibacterial activity was again evaluated. Spirost-8-en-11-one,3-hydroxy(3β,5α,14β,20β,22β,25R...

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of medical, dental, and allied health students about online education in Pakistan. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was done to assess the level of acceptance of undergraduate students. A pre-validated questionnaire regarding demographics, past-experience of e-learning, advantages disadvantages of e-learning, and general perception of students towards e-learning was distributed. Descriptive statistics were computed for demographics, Mann-Witney-U test was used to compare the differences of perceptions between pre-clinical year and clinical years students. Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to compare the results of three specialties of students. Chi-square was used to compare overall category-wise positive and negative responses of students. 1200 students participated in the study. The major advantage identified by all students was the ‘comfortabl...

Study design: Cross-sectional study Place and duration of study: Avicenna dental hospital, Lahore from July 2019 to September 2021. Methodology: Pre-treatment records of 135 patients visiting the Orthodontics department of Avicenna Dental Hospital, including history, clinical examination, photos, study casts and radiographs were retrospectively studied to determine the skeletal face type and status of mandibular third molars. Relationship of skeletal face type was correlated with the impacted third molars. Results: Mean age of the patients was 22 years with more (67%) patients being females. Mandibular third molar impactions were 39.58% in skeletal Class I, 57.53% in Class II and 35.71% in Class III respectively. Both mandibular third molars were found impacted in 64.28% dolicofacial, 53.96% mesofacial and 53.33% brachyfacial patients. Conclusion: ...
