The purpose of the current attempt of research is the analysis of the structural evolution of the banking sector in Romania, under the impact of foreign direct investments (FDI). Analyzing the structural evolution of the Romanian banking sector, there can be observed that in 2015, FDI has influenced some important merger operations on a level with branches of foreign banks in Romania, and over 85% of the total capital of the banking system in our country belongs to credit institutions with foreign majority ownership and to their branches. Regarding the origin of the foreign capital of credit institutions, it originates from the member states of the European Union (EU). It is also worthy of note that in 2015, the top ten banks in the banking sector of Romania held 71.6% of the assets, while the remaining 26 banks held a share of only 28.4% of the market. Banca Comercială Română, BRD -Groupe Société Générale and Banca Transilvania are in 2015 the main banks in the Romanian banking system, with a major market share.

Starting from the main dimensions of a parent ship, other ten hull forms have been generated using DELFTship free program. For each case, the hydrodynamic ship resistance has been calculated using an inhouse code. The objective was to modify some geometrical parameters to obtain shapes of the hull that would provide the least resistance at the required transport capacity. The results obtained will be used in a future analysis related to the impact of hull forms improvements and ship resistance reduction on the propulsive performance and CO2 emissions per transport work.

The purpose of this study is to find the connections between operational risk and reputational risk. Our research shows that there may be a loss of reputation due to operational loss events. Moreover, every type of operational risk, from internal fraud, external fraud, legal and liability losses, processing errors, information security breaches, inappropriate business practice, physical security breaches conduct to a loss of reputation. The limitations of this paper are represented by the fact that do not have enough data to show the real impact of the reputation risk to the financial results of the European Banks.

The purpose is to better understand the behavior (the short- and medium-term dynamics) of the credit cycle and business cycle and the effects of the interactions between them. The results of this study offer valuable insights for both academics and policymakers and provide a warning to regulators not to overregulate or put too much pressure on banking activity.

This event was a confirmation of the success of Romanian reforms, but, at the same time, it was the beginning of a new stage in the process of accomplishing the nominal and real convergence conditions, set in the Maastricht Treaty. In this study we have explored some considerations about the NBR's reform performances before and after the EU accession and, also, we have discussed about the main challenges and perspectives for the Romanian central bank in the new economic environment imposed by the integration process.

For the estimation of efficiency of banking we used a nonparametric method-the DEA Method (Data Envelopment Analysis) and a parametric method-the SFA Method (Stochastic Frontier Analysis). The results of the analyses show that the banks in the three East-European countries reach low levels of technical efficiency and cost efficiency, especially the ones in Romania, and that the main factors influencing the level of banks efficiency in these countries are: quality of assets; bank size, annual inflation rate; banking reform and interest rate liberalisation level and form of ownership.

We use a dataset of 571 commercial banks from Eurozone and analyze the relation on the period from 1999 to 2011, with emphasize on the period 2008 to 2011. We use non-performing loans, loan loss provisions and Z-score as measures for bank risk-taking, while for monetary policy the proxies are short-term interest rates (computed using a Taylor rule) and long-term interest rates. We determine the relation between the two by taking into account some specific control variables and analyze it using an entity fixed-effects model and Generalized Method of Moments, alternatively. Empirical results point to a negative relation between interest rates and bank risk-taking. In addition to this, results show that the crisis has led to an additional negative impact on the relation between interest rates and bank risk-taking for the turmoil period 2008-2011.

This article is a comparative approach structured on five parts as it follows: the second part is a review of the specific literature regarding the theme of our work, the third part is an analysis of the absorption stage of the Structural Funds and the evolution of the stand by agreements between Romania and IMF, the fourth part is a SWOT analysis of the Structural Funds versus the IMF loans and the last section is dedicated to the econometric quantification of the efficiency of the two financing opportunities. The IMF loans ensure the coordinates of the financial stability but the structural funds represent the link between stability and the development that Romania needs. We consider and claim that Romania needs European funds. We do not ask to give up entirely to the IMF loans but we plead for having an equilibrium which cou...
