One of the methods to measure these factors is the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Behavioral Intention of University students for acceptance and use of mobile phone in their studies. The study employed the extended UTAUT2 model (Venkatesh et al. 2012) which was adapted to the Greek context. The participants were 540 students of different Universities across Greece, who completed an online questionnaire. The most important predictors for students’ Behavioral Intention to use mobile phones in their studies were Habit (the strongest one), Performance Expectancy and Hedonic Motivation. The most important predictor for actual mobile phone use was Behavioral Intention. Gender, age and experience did not have any moderating effect. The findings of this study enhance the evidence on mobile phone acceptance among University students, and have implications for students’ training.

Although many researchers have studied different factors which affect ICT use in education, there is little research examining the factors that influence educators’ satisfaction and intention to use a specific cultural ICT system in their teaching. This study proposes a model to identify these factors, which can explain in-service and student teachers’ intention to use and satisfaction with Culture Gate—a User-Participatory Cultural Heritage Platform in educational environments. The proposed model was based on variables of TAM, TPB and IS success models. Data were obtained from 309 in-service and student teachers, and it was tested against the research model using the PLS approach of Structural Equation Modeling. The results mainly revealed that in-service and student teachers’ intention to use and satisfaction with a User-Participatory Cultural Heritage Platform can be explained to a substantial extent by their perceptions of the quality value (i.e. educational, technical, content and information quality) of the platform. The results have significant practical and theoretical implications for educators in terms of design and usage of a participatory cultural heritage platform for educational purposes.

This study investigated teachers' readiness to adopt mobile learning in K-12 classrooms. A questionnaire was administered to 920 teachers in Greece and four factors were extracted, Possibilities, Benefits, Preferences and External influences. Teachers, in general , expressed positive perceptions on mobile learning readiness. The highest percentage of agreement regarded the possibilities of mobile learning (over 60%). ICT training and attendance of ICT conferences, both affected positively teachers' perceptions on mobile learning benefits and preferences. Teachers who use mobile devices in class reported significantly more positive perceptions on all factors, while gender or age had no impact on perceptions. There was a higher probability of mobile devices' usage in class among teachers working in elementary schools (in comparison with those working in high schools or general/vocational lyceums). Stronger perceptions on mobile learning benefits, preferences and external influences were associated with an increased likelihood of using mobile devices in the classroom. Teachers' readiness perceptions can be explored from a multi-dimensional perspective, and also be associated with mobile technology use in classrooms. Implications for teacher professional development, methodology and pedagogical practice are discussed.

The effect of such Turkish Serial is so huge on the TV's audience that many times people prefer attending such soap-operas rather than other TV's very popular events, such as football games or Eurovision's competition. In this direction, as primary motivation for us, as academics and researchers was to explore the reasons for which the Greek audience likes attending Turkish TV Serial, focusing as an example on two very popular Turkish TV Serial which were shown at Greek TV, with sample University's students: these are "Binbir Gece" (Thousand and One Nights) and "Suleiman the Magnificent". The first TV Serial was shown by Greek TV in 2010 and the second since 2012. The protagonist in both TV Serial is the same actor, a very popular person for the Greek audience and both Serial were shown by Greece's big TV network, Ant1, at pr...

The process of divorce is described according to the laws of the rincipality, and divorces are examined among those published in the Newspaper of the Government of the Principality of Samos from the last decade of the Principality from 1902 to 1911. Issues linked to divorce are investigated, like the differences between husbands and wives regarding the initiation and reasons for requesting a divorce. These differences are integrated in the specific social context of the Principality, and the qualitative characteristics are determined in regard to the gender ratio of women and men that is articulated by the invocation of divorce. The aim is to determine the boundaries of social identities of gender with focus on the prevailing perceptions of the social roles of men and women. Gender is used as a social and cultural construction. It is argued that the social gender identity is formed through ...

The results of the study are presented for the first time through this international publication. The sample of the study included 1,647 (N1) second generation immigrant students, 1,334 (N2) teachers working at primary and secondary education schools throughout Greece and 40 (N3) immigrant students studying in tertiary education departments. The results of this study are of interest to an international readership for two reasons: to realize the current education provisions needing to be addressed for the second generation immigrant students in Greece and to reflect on the progressive steps that the key providers should consider for intercultural education policies.

A 36-item questionnaire was administered to 246 adolescents (12-15 years old) of an experimental school, in Greece. Four factors were extracted: "ICT self-concept", "social exposure to ICT", "interest in computers" and "interest in mobile devices". The factorial structure of the "ICT engagement" questionnaire was revealed. The majority of the pupils expressed strong interest towards both computers and mobile devices. Over 90% of the adolescents believe that the internet is very useful to find practical information, that they can handle mobile phones confidently, and that they know how to download new applications for a mobile phone. Gender was statistically significant correlated to "ICT self-concept" and "social exposure to ICT", where the boys had higher mean values in comparison to girls. The frequency of computer use had positive correlations with the factors "ICT self-concept", "social exposure to ICT" and "interest in computers". It is suggested to describe adolescents' ICT engagement with respect to discrete dimensions. In particular, the dimensions-factors "interest in computers" and "interest in mobile devices" should be distinct when defining concepts related to ICT engagement. The questionnaire is suggested to be used with other adolescent populations of different countries, in order to reveal possible similarities and differences.

The research indicates that emphasis on this kind of teaching improves not only students’ abilities in handling Real Problems themselves, but also it improves their abilities in dealing with pure mathematical ideas.

The sample of the study, included: a) 1.647 (N1) second generation immigrant students, b) 1.334 (N2) teachers working at Primary and Secondary Education school units throughout Greece; c) A small sample, i.e. 31 immigrant students (N3) who attended attending Universities in Greece. The results of this study are of main interest for an international readership for two reasons: to depict the situation of the second generation immigrant students in Greece; to reflect on the next steps that the key actors should take into consideration in the design of future policies addressed to immigrant pupils in the frame of the Intercultural Education in Greece.

National, ethnic and religious affiliations as well as linguistic and other cultural criteria are used to define the Self and the Other. Within this context, notions of sameness and otherness are constantly challenged, negotiated and re-defined. This is an evident characteristic of todays everyday life in Greece, an emigration country once, becoming since 1990 a reception country for thousands of migrants. This paper explores ideas and perceptions about homeland as expressed by young people in the town of Florina in northern Greece. It is based on a survey, conducted with a random sample (100 N) of Secondary Education pupils and students attending the three Departments (Primary, Pre-Primary and Balkan Studies) in the town. The subjects were 250 undergraduate students from two university departments in Greece, and a questionnaire was used to document their search practices. The results showed that the Web was the primary information system searched in order to find information for university assignments, while the level of database searching was very low. In particular, the search engine Google was used very frequently either for university assignments or for personal purposes. Regarding students’ practices in evaluating Web‐based information, the top criteria reported were ‘relevance of information’ and ‘easy to understand’. Students’ self‐efficacy concerning Web‐searching was found to be high and positively related to the variables ‘frequency of Web use’ and ‘years of internet use’. Implications for students’ training are discussed. Students’ search behaviour needs to be expanded beyond the Web search engines, to include a ...
