This paper aimsto describe different scenarios of venous thromboembolism.

This is spent on improvements to premises or the development of new premises. The design of facilities has a large impact on efficiency and outcomes. Healthcare is a service environment in which patients are part of the system. It is therefore necessary to incorporate a sociotechnical approach to design. The design of healthcare facilities is complex because there are multiple stakeholders and several types of flow that interact, patients, clinicians, visitors, medication, supplies, equipment and information. The paper briefly reviews the literature on the design of different types of manufacturing facilities from technical and sociotechnical perspectives. It then develops classifications of healthcare design problems. The traditional approach to hospital design and recent Lean-based approaches are reviewed. Appropriate approaches for designing various types of facilities are then considered. A good design will strea...

Infertility is defined as not being able to get pregnant despite having frequent, unprotected sex for at least a year. Extraordinary advances have been achieved in the field of male infertility in the last decades. In recent years, the use of antioxidants in treatment of infertile men has been suggested, although there is limited evidence about the influence of nutrition on quality of semen. In this cohort study we aimed to evaluate the effect of Maca, Korean ginseng extract and antioxidants (vitamin C, natural vitamin E, zinc, selenium, L-Arginine, L-Carnitine, L-Methionine and L-Phenylalanine) on a male previously diagnosed with oligoasthenozoospermia, incapable to achieve fertilization of the healthy spouse. The man at age of 30, from Skopje, was supplemented daily with Maca tablets 500 mg three times a day, and once a day with a tablet under a brand name available in Macedonia, consisted of Korean ginseng extract an...

All the patients that fulfilled the required criteria, 37 were enrolled in the study signing a document that explains nature of the study. The first semen sample was collected with at least three days of abstinence. From the sample 0.5 ml was used for standard semen analysis, 1.2 ml was used to evaluate the levels of malonedialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl (PC). The last sample was collected after 6 months. Mean, Standard Deviation, the Pearson Correlation and an independent student t-test were used for statistical analyses. Concentration and motility were significantly increased after 6 months of treatment (p<0.001).The level of MDA shows significantly lower values after six months of therapy with antioxidants (p<0.001).Whereas another marker which is denoted by PC was also lower after...

The effects of reactive oxygen species (ROS) on male fertility depend on the dimensions, “modus operandi” of the ROS and the oxido-reduction potential (ORP) of the male reproductive tract. Hereupon, for an adequate response to OS, the cells of our body are endowed with a well-sophisticated system of defense in order to be protected. Various antioxidant enzymes and small molecular free radical scavengers, maintain the delicate balance between oxidants and reductants (antioxidants), crucial to cellular function and fertility. Therapeutic use of antioxidants is an optimal and coherent option in terms of mitigating OS and improving semen parameters. Therefore, recognizing and managing OS through either decreasing ROS levels or by increasing antioxidant force, appear to be a requesting approach in the management of male infertility. However, a clear defined attitude ...
