Smartphones provide a potential alternative platform for the extension of ECG to new care settings and to improve timeliness of care. To gain experience with smartphone electrocardiography prior to designing a larger multicenter study evaluating standard 12-lead ECG compared to smartphone ECG. 6 patients for whom the hospital STEMI protocol was activated were evaluated with traditional 12-lead ECG followed immediately by a smartphone ECG using right (VnR) and left (VnL) limb leads for precordial grounding. The AliveCor™ Heart Monitor was utilized for this study. All tracings were taken prior to catheterization or immediately after revascularization while still in the catheterization laboratory. The smartphone ECG had excellent correlation with the gold standard 12-lead ECG in all patients. Four out of six tracings were judged to meet STEMI criteria on both modalities as determined by three experienced cardiologists, and in the remaining two, consensus indicated a non-STEMI ECG diagnosis. No significant difference was noted between VnR and VnL. Smartphone based electrocardiography is a promising, developing technology intended to increase availability and speed of electrocardiographic evaluation. This study confirmed the potential of a smartphone ECG for evaluation of acute ischemia and the feasibility of studying this technology further to define the diagnostic accuracy, limitations and appropriate use of this new technology.

The first section of the chapter briefly outlines current trends and opportunities in chemisorption. The second section presents hydrogen physisorption in porous media such as a metal—organic framework (MOF). The third section talks about current attempts to store hydrogen via spillover effects. Physisorption materials such as metal-organic frameworks have fast and reversible kinetics, but the required cryogenic operation temperature is far from satisfactory. The Kubas approach stands somewhere in between chemisorption and physisorption. It is said that the Kubas approach has most benefited from first-principles calculations. Many subtle and complicated aspects of the Kubas interaction have been revealed through the understanding of the electronic structure brought forward from a range of theoretical studies.

Nevertheless, its interesting challenges in terms of cost-reduction, accuracy improvement, scalability, and distributed ability design have led to the development of a new algorithm, the Push–pull Estimation (PPE). In this algorithm, the differences between measurements and current calculated distances are modeled

Research paper thumbnail of LPG characterization and production quantification for oil and gas reservoirs

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2010

Many offshore projects have restrictions on flaring gases and special fiscal terms make extracted liquids significantly more valuable than oil and condensate in some cases, which in turn impact the economics of many projects. This paper for the first time systematically investigates LPG characterization and production quantification coupled together with reservoir simulation. Detailed calculations of LPG yields from both gas cap and solution gas are given. LPG yield of fluid is a function of the initial gas–oil ratio (GOR), gas specific gravity, and separator condition: LPG yield, which is lower in the gas cap compared to the solution gas of the same reservoir, has a good correlation with gas specific gravity and is impacted by separator conditions. The concept of LPG-produced GOR correlation curve is introduced and applied together with gas production rate to predict LPG production. Correlation curves depend on reservoir fluid properties and development strategies. Generated from flashing the mixtures of different proportions of oil and gas samples, LPG-produced GOR correlation curve has a good agreement with the results from reservoir compositional simulation and can be coupled with various forecasting tools in reservoir engineering. Lean gas injection has an insignificant impact on LPG recovery but can substantially improve the recovery of total liquid (oil and condensate). The paper also shows that lumping C3 and C4 as one pseudocomponent is suitable.
