Analysis of fabric behaviour during wearing has shown that these are submitted to simple and repeated uniaxial or biaxial tensile strains. The level of these strains is often within the elastic limit, rarely going over yielding. Therefore the designer must be able to evaluate the mechanical behaviour of such fabrics in order to control the fabric behaviour in the garment. This evaluation is carried out based on the tensile testing, using certain indexes specific to the stress-strain curve. The paper considers an experimental matrix based on woven fabrics of different yarn counts, different or equal yarn count for warp and weft systems and different structures. The fabrics were tested using a testing machine and the results were then compared in order to determine the fabrics’ tensile behaviour and the factors of influence that affect it.From the point of view of tensile testing, the woven materials having twill weave are preferable because this type of structure is characterised by higher durability and better yarn stability in the fabric. In practice, the woven material must exhibit an optimum behaviour to repeated strains, flexions and abrasions during wearing process. The analysis of fabrics tensile properties studied by investigation of stress-strain diagrams reveals that the main factors influencing the tensile strength are: yarns fineness, technological density of those two systems of yarns and the weaving type.

Applying statistical techniques to optimise technical processes represents an actual challenge, f... more Applying statistical techniques to optimise technical processes represents an actual challenge, from the point of view of the application methodology on the technological process and the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results. This paper presents the steps to obtain a statistical model for a technical textile process-the influence of plasma treatment on polypropylene fibres. Plasma treatment of polypropylene fibres on an installation with variable working parameters led to appreciable modifications of fibres' mechanorheological and surface properties. Thus, the paper focuses on highlighting the influence of technical parameters-active power and number of cycles, on the properties of polypropylene fibres and the determination of some factors for its optimisation. The first step of statistical modelling is to obtain data from the textile process through the programmed experiment method. The significance of the regression equation coefficients and the statistical adequacy of the model was analysed. The results obtained by the presented research are highlighted quantitatively and qualitatively throughout the experimental region and can be used in the educational and industrial fields. The current study is practical didactically by explaining the steps of statistical modelling on a textile process with practical applicability in the technical field.

The basic and unitary understanding of these concepts is mainly connected with statistical techniques for the measurement and/or estimation of system's reliability, as well as with predicting techniques from artificial intelligence field. Researches performed until now, based in an overwhelming proportion on statistic methods that imply collecting data sometimes hard to determine and obtain on large time horizons, often prohibited, and with predicted results that need validation, lead to the necessity of a new approach for the calculation of this parameter from the management of safety in operation. An ever-increasing number of employers use online tools to search and select their employees. Neural network modeling enables design engineers in safety of operation to iteratively and interactively test the parameters and evaluate the corresponding changes in system performance before physical realization. For this reason, NN is an efficient tool in designing systems. NN can also be used during system testing as additional tools to determine the optimal operating values of the parameters and to determine their tolerance. The novelty of this paper is the combination into compact algorithm of mathematical and neural techniques in the realization of the correlations of the safety operation parameters and in the optimization of the dependability system in order to support the production-quality strategies. That is why one cannot separate the task of providing a reliable operation, from the problems of designing the device, organizing the production and its exploitation. Thus, mathematical techniques combined with artificial intelligence techniques are used to determine the connection and causal relations between the components of the technical systems. Applying mathematical methods hybridized with artificial intelligence techniques requires knowledge of each technical system and their optimal combination. Thus, we design a didactic and practical application methodology, structured gradually on a real data set, with objectives observed and conclusions justified at each analysis stage. This paper complements and was based on scientific papers from the specialized literature in this field, using working hypotheses regarding the distributions of the series of parametric values and the logical relationships of interdependence between the studied parameters. The importance of the paper derives from the theoretical and practical implementation of a unitary statistical based on artificial intelligence algorithms in the field of textile systems maintainability, which will gradually define the relationship between the maintenance parameters. The paper's novelty elements consist of the systematization of the primary data through a programmed experiment and the statistical regression analysis combined with neural and genetic modeling and compare models results.

Operational management issues represent a permanent challenge for the current economic environmen... more Operational management issues represent a permanent challenge for the current economic environment and the research activity. This research will model a Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP). The complexity of this fundamental problem (np-hard) allows a chance to apply and develop heuristic methods and evolutionary algorithms along with exact methods (dynamic programming, branch & bound). This paper proposes a new discrete algorithm to solve the TSP based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. The features of this method are fast determination through an iterative process of the optimal problem, the generalised search in all the solutions, and the avoidance of the local optimal. To avoid premature convergence, we have introduced a new operator with a new mathematical function, and we have proposed new techniques for measuring and maintaining population diversity. We tested the algorithm's performance by applying it to numerical instances and compared it to the solutions and performance provided by other evolutionary algorithms. By delaying the convergence process, the new algorithm PSO offers reasonable solutions in terms of quality comparable to those offered by different evolutionary algorithms tested. At the end of the research, we highlighted the conclusions, limitations, and new techniques based on the PSO algorithm.
