Resource planning and scheduling for a given job is a central issue in the scientific problem sol... more Resource planning and scheduling for a given job is a central issue in the scientific problem solving Grid oriented environments. The workflow oriented approach to this issue has the advantage of efficient allocation of resources at the workflow level by revising the allocation solution at the task level based on requirements of subsequent tasks. The PEGAF project aims at providing a platform for workflow oriented applications development, implementing adaptive scheduling strategies. After an overview of the adopted OGSA based conceptual framework, the paper presents the PEGAF platform functionality and the Service Infrastructure architecture being implemented as part of PEGAF project.

From the scientific point of view, ICT is included in the list of research, development and innovation (RDI) sectors of smart specialization, which provide support for competitiveness and economic performance. In order to capitalize on this potential, it is important that the definition and structuring of the ICT RDI service offer to the beneficiaries of the economy to highlight the specificity and complementarity of this offer in relation to the products and services of the IT industry. Abstract. The paper presents research results related to an ongoing European IST project called M... more Abstract. The paper presents research results related to an ongoing European IST project called MECASP (Maintenance and improvement of componentbased applications diffused in ASP mode), aiming at developing a set of tools for tracking the evolution of heterogeneous software (built using heterogeneous development tools, such as Java IDEs, relational DBMSs, CASE tools, document editors etc). MECASP cannot benefit from existing version management tools like CVS or Microsoft VSS because these tools deal with versioning text files only and have a primitive mechanism for change tracking and version merge. The paper first presents the XML-based solution for software modeling in MECASP. Then, the basic platform and the general architecture of MECASP are given, along with the limits of the existing open source software for the implementation of the XML repository manager, the core of MECASP. The paper also presents the specific features of the MECASP browser, conversion tools and merger. 1

The FORSEE project, which was funded by the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme, developed the first regional Foresight exercise in research, development and innovation for the Information and Communication Technologies domain. The paper presents the authors’ experience regarding the FORSEE project self-evaluation based on the Goal-Question-Metric method. After a brief introduction to project activities being subject of self-evaluation, the main specific features of the GQM method (i.e. the approach, the measurement model, the phases of the GQM process) and the solution for GQM implementation adopted for the FORSEE project are described. În prezent se observă o creștere continuă a numărului de surse și a volumului de date geospațiale... more În prezent se observă o creștere continuă a numărului de surse și a volumului de date geospațiale stocate și, în același timp, o creștere a cererii de accesare a acestor date. Realizarea unei platforme web cu rol în gestionarea și agregarea acestor date, precum și facilitarea accesului la informații structurate în funcție de diferite criterii selectate de utilizator, este de importanță majoră. Se impune atât elaborarea de sisteme informatice care să urmărească stocarea informațiilor, prelucrarea și vizualizarea datelor referitoare la dezastre și crize majore cu scopul monitorizării acestora și a diminuării efectelor, cât și dezvoltarea unor instrumente de înregistrare în sistem, vizualizare, prelucrare şi raportare a evenimentelor, actuale și istorice. Lucrarea de faţă prezintă o soluție de tip platformă cloud de informare asupra dezastrelor şi crizelor majore. Platforma este bazată pe un catalog de date și pe interogări ale bazei de date create, care poate fi dezvoltată prin completarea bazei de date cu informații de actualitate, prin integrarea unor noi surse de date și corelarea cu platforme externe. Sunt descrise arhitectura platformei propuse, fluxul de lucru, funcționalități de bază, detalii de implementare şi rezultate experimentale. Due to its specificity, the Ambient Assisted Leaving is a priority domain to implements such solutions, with main focus on health and behaviour monitoring. The paper provides the business architecture and generic specifications for a management system with a two-fold objective: to support the configuration of the integrated offer of services specific to Cloud of Things based monitoring, in relation with various providers of these services, and to efficiently administrate the implementation and usage of this offer, in collaboration with its users and beneficiaries. The paper presents the framework and the main tools for software maintenance (i.e creation and ma... more The paper presents the framework and the main tools for software maintenance (i.e creation and management of versions), developed during the IST project called MECASP (Maintenance and improvement of component-based applications diffused in ASP mode). The specific features and general architecture of MECASP, given at the beginning of the paper, make it differ from the existing (open source and commercial) products for version management. The paper gives a brief description of the software architecture in MECASP, represented by XML meta-models and versioned models. Also, it presents the basic components of the specific browser in MECASP.
