These casts are exteremely cohesive. Most common presenting symptoms include cough, fever and dyspnea and if the cohesive casts occlude the airway totally life-threatening complications and even death may occur. The aim of treatment is to remove the casts and adress the symptoms. In this study a 6-year-old boy with PB is presented. In addition to medical treatment obstructing casts were removed via rigid bronchoscope. It is aimed to review the clinical and radiographic features and choices of treatment in this disease.

Regarded as a major public health issue, FBA may be the end result of aspiration of various organic and inorganic materials. Parental and public awareness including preventive measures is important in avoiding these injuries. The consequences of FBA may pose great challenge for both the children, their families together with clinicians dealing with these children. In this review article it is aimed to discuss the epidemiology, clinical presentations, diagnosis and treatment modalities of FBA in children under the light of relevant literature.

There are various surgical techniques for repairing PSW with different terminologies. During the management of these children, in the case of suspicion of penile skin abnormality at the time of circumcision, it should be deferred and should be consulted to a pediatric surgeon or a pediatric urologist. Gentle surgical treatment is recommended for a favourable surgical and psychological result.

Mature teratomas are frequently seen in these cases. The most common of these masses in children are the mature cystic teratoma which are also known as dermoid cysts. The management of children with ovarian dermoids has evolved over recent years in a manner of ovary preservation. In this review article two cases of ovarian dermoids are presented. The tumoral mass was totally excised in both of these cases preserving the effected ovary in an ovary sparing manner. The medical history of the patients, radiological and histopathological findings are also given together with a brief literature review on this issue.

Injury to the urinary tract results from either blunt or penetrating trauma and penetrating traum... more Injury to the urinary tract results from either blunt or penetrating trauma and penetrating trauma comprises less than 2% of these traumas [1,2]. Penetrating urinary tract injuries are commonly due to gun shots, stab wounds from a knife or other sharp objects. Intentional stab wounds with knives are commonly seen in trauma centers and it has been reported that there is an increasing trend for stabbings in the gluteal and perineal regions with an intention not to kill [3]. Herein, we report an 17-year-old boy who sustained a single buttock stab wound that was associated with isolated bladder injury. It is aimed in this report to remind the clinical and therapeutic features of this rare trauma together with a brief literature review on penetrating bladder traumas due to stab wounds.

It can be observed from oral cavity to anus and it typically involves the ileum, ileocecumor portions of the entire colon. With an increasing rate of CD in children, surgery still has a role in the management of this entity in children when medical treatment is unsuccessful. In this review article it is aimed to review the surgical treatment of CD under the light of relevant literature. During the management of children with CD, risks and benefits of surgical options should be carefully assessed and an appropriate surgical intervention should be performed promptly in order to avoid future complications and to gain future growth of the child with an acceptable quality of life.

There are several factors producing LGIB in these children and are usually managed with regard to the underlying pathology that produces LGIB. Although majority of these bleeding episodes is self-limited, certain infants and toddlers with LGIB may necessitate prompt management including urgent surgical intervention. In this review article it is aimed to review the etiology, epidemiology, clinical manifestations and principles of treatment of LGIB in infants and toddlers under the light of relevant literature.

However, despite medical advances, many children with CD still require operative interventions. The risk of complications following resection in children treated with IFX remains largely unknown. We compare surgical outcomes stratified by IFX therapy in a cohort of children with CD who require bowel resection. Methods: We reviewed the postoperative complications in 123 children with CD who underwent bowel resection with primary anastomosis at our institution between 1977 and 2011. Demographics, medications, types of operations, and inpatient courses were analyzed. Complications and length of stay were compared based on medical therapy. Results: Overall, the postoperative complication rate was 13%. Of the 123 surgical cases, 24 children had received IFX prior to their operation. In the children treated with IFX, we identified three major complications, including anastomotic leak, acute renal failure, and intra-abdominal abscess. There were nine major complications in the non-IFX group, including infections (2), intra-abdominal abscesses (2), bowel obstruction, shock, supraventricular tachycardia, phlegmon, and anastomotic stricture. No significant differences in complication rates or postoperative lengths of stay were identified between those who did or did not receive IFX. Conclusions: In this cohort, surgical procedures in children and young adults treated with IFX were not associated with an increased number of complications or prolonged length of stay. Given that postoperative complications are infrequent in children, larger multicenter studies may be required to determine if IFX therapy increases the risk of surgical complications in pediatric CD.

This entity is usually observed after trauma and surgical procedures. A 5-year-old boy with a ventral penile mass was admitted to our department. The history of the patient revealed that he was operated at the age of 1 year for hypospadias in a different medical center. The patient's history also revealed that during the initial operation, a skin graft was used for covering urethroplasty. One year later the operation, a ventral penile mass was observed by his mother during wash. The mass continued to increase in size reaching of 1 cm in diameter. The mass was excised and the histopathological study revealed that the mass was compatible with an EIC. With 2 years of follow up the patient is disease free. EICs after penile surgical interventions may be a factor of anxiety for both the children and their parents. In order to avoid this unwanted complication, implantation of the superficial tissue layers into the deep the dermal and subcutaneous tissues should be avoided.

Although there have been improvements in neonatal intensive care, this disease continues to have a poor prognosis with high mortality rate. Delay in diagnosis and treatment in these sick babies may have catastrophic consequences including death. Herein a premature neonate with gastric perforation is presented in order to review the presentation, imaging findings and management of this rather rare entity. It is also aimed in this study to conduct a review of relevant literature on this subject.
