Research paper thumbnail of Interaction of Microwave Radiation by Very Thin Fibers

2021 46th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2021

The formulas for the absorption and scattering efficiency coefficients are obtained on the basis of the Mie theory. Conditions are found when absorption and scattering are very strong. The fiber diameter should be comparable to the thickness of the skin layer in the fiber. This is about 10 times less than the radiation wavelength in matter. The heat conduction equation, which describes the heating of the fiber by a microwave beam, was solved. The experiment by radiation (λ = 8 mm) was confirmed the theoretical results.

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2021

The possibility for control of tightly focused laser beams excited by the resonator modes of a TH... more The possibility for control of tightly focused laser beams excited by the resonator modes of a THz laser based on a hollow circular dielectric waveguide is studied theoretically and experimentally. The wavelength of the radiation under study is 0.4326 mm corresponding to the generation line of the optically pumped HCOOH‐molecule THz laser. The focusing system is implemented by a short‐focus lens covered by absorbing masks in the central region. The focal area parameters were controlled by changing the size of the masks. The electric field components of the laser modes are calculated using the Rayleigh‐Sommerfeld integral transformations under non‐paraxial approximation. The use of absorbing masks made it possible to reduce the beam diameter in the focal region and increase the depth of focus of the linearly polarized EH11‐mode and azimuthally polarized TE01‐mode as well. In this case, despite of the presence of an absorbing mask, the distribution of the total field intensity of the ...

The availability of a quasioptical waveguide cavity with the offered transversal mode selector is demonstrated for the creation wide-range small-sized SMM optically pumped lasers. The control of the selector diaphragm diameter is executed without the disturbance of the laser action in any line of oscillation. At that no more than two lower modes remain over the threshold of oscillation. Due to small width of the gain line of SMM laser the single-mode action can be reached, as a rule, by tuning a cavity. The effective high mode suppression is obtained as well in the case of several cavity modes occur within of the gain contour simultaneously.

This method is based on expansion of the functions representing the distribution of the field of the resonator modes in terms of distribution functions of oscillation modes propagating in a waveguide laser tube. The method is supported by experimental results and it is used to optimize the output power of submillimeter lasers pumped with TEA CO 2 laser radiation.

Optimum excitation conditions are determined theoretically and experimentally, and the degree of polarization of the beams transmitted through the waveguides is evaluated.

It uses a generalised confocal laser cavity, with one of the mirrors made in the form of a mask with discretely arranged phase-shifting nonuniformities. The theoretical and experimental results of the study confirm the formation of such beams at the output of a CO2 laser with a nonuniform phase-stepped mirror.

The results of a study of a ring SMM laser with bidirectional optical pumping in the formic acid molecule (HCOOH) acting by the oscillation line with the wavelength 393.6 μm and heterodyne interferometer are given. These are very important channels for the production of OH (X 2 , ν) radicals, as well as for understanding the origin of the atmospheric Meinel bands. The energy range of our measurements is 20-50 eV, with the angular range of the differential cross section data being 10 •-90 •. Where possible comparison of the present cross sections with the corresponding results from theoretical calculations is made, the level of agreement between them being found to be quite marginal.

A Kadomtsev-Petviashvili I (KPI) solitary wave has been realized for superfluid Fermi gases in the limited cases of Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) regime, Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) regime, and unitarity regime. Onelump solution as well as one-line soliton solutions for the KPI equation are obtained, and two-line soliton solutions with the same amplitude are also studied in the limited cases. The dependence of the lump propagating velocity and the sound speed of two-dimensional superfluid Fermi gases on the interaction parameter are investigated for the limited cases of BEC and unitarity.
