A procedure for assessing the properties of a milling machine based on machining tests was presen... more A procedure for assessing the properties of a milling machine based on machining tests was presented, with particular emphasis on shape errors and properties of the workpiece surface layer. The selection of an appropriate test-piece and cutting parameters for such a test was discussed. A mathematical formula was also presented, which allows to associate the accuracy of the test-piece with that of the milling machine. The proposed test procedure was verified by evaluating the DMC 1035V Ecoline vertical machining centre.

Omówiono współczesne napędy obrabiarek i układy pomiaru położenia. Wskazano na przyczyny monitorowania nowoczesnych systemów wytwórczych i opisano stosowane układy diagnostyki i nadzoru. Przedstawiono wybrane inteligentne rozwiązania mechatroniczne w dziedzinie obrabiarek, których celem jest ograniczenie różnego rodzaju błędów obróbki. SŁOWA KLUCZOWE: obrabiarka, diagnostyka, sensory, układy mechatroniczne The aim of the study was to present the progress in the application of a variety of sensors and mechatronic systems in numerically controlled machine tools. Modern machine tools drives and position measurement systems were discussed. The reasons for modern manufacturing systems monitoring were indicated and diagnostic and supervision systems employed in machine tools were described. Some selected intelligent mechatronic solutions in the field of machine tools whose aim is to reduce various types of machining errors were presented.

An error analysis was carried out. Machine tool evaluation was made on the basis of error values and their suitability for carrying out machining tasks in the enterprise was determined.

Statistical studies of the surface distribution of milled workpieces and the possibility of their... more Statistical studies of the surface distribution of milled workpieces and the possibility of their use for operationbased tests and machine tool evaluation were presented. In the first part of the paper, the assumptions and scope of statistical research were defined and the method of obtaining data on machined surfaces directly from machining programs was described. In the following part of the article, the results of the research consisting in determining the probability of machining operations in the working space of a numerically controlled milling machine were presented on the example of machining programs designed for implementation on the DMC 1035V Ecoline vertical machining centre. The knowledge of the load distribution in the working space of a milling machine associated with the machining process can be used to design and manufacture the test pieces reflecting the machining tasks performed on the milling machine and to develop appropriate acceptance and evaluation procedures.

The dynamic performances of railway bridges structures under the train loads come into more and m... more The dynamic performances of railway bridges structures under the train loads come into more and more prominence with development of high-speed railways being built in the world. It forces to develop some methods to test them. The aim of this study was to develop a new shaker's supporting structure to inspect railway bridges dynamic parameters and perform some dynamic tests for shaker-framedynamometers structure. A special frame transferring the excitations to the rails was designed and produced. Then it was tested together with the shaker. Some results of laboratory tests were presented. The shaker together with a new construction of the supporting frame, adopted to its fastening to rails, fulfill all the functional assumptions, i.e. they allow to: permanently measure components of the excitation forces during the railway bridge inspections, temporarily attach the wheel system for the transport purposes and raise/lower the system for attaching/detaching wheels and fastening/removing dynamometers. The shaker with the supporting system allows obtaining an excitation force with a stable frequency and the amplitude deviations no larger then 5% of nominal value. The deviations get smaller when the excitation frequency and resulting excitation force increase.
