The number of grains per panicle is one of the important factors determining the yields in rice. ... more The number of grains per panicle is one of the important factors determining the yields in rice. This study aimed to capture the panicle branching pattern of different rice varieties grown in different environments with various planting systems. The assessment was conducted in West Java during the planting season of 2020. The panicle of new high-yielding and local rice varieties was collected from 23 various rice-growing sites. The results revealed that the variance due to genotype, environment, and interaction between genotype and environment were significant for panicle branching trait. Two rice genotypes, such as Padjadjaran and Inpari 45 were stable and did not show any change when they were grown in the various environments with different agronomical practices. Whereas, Inpari 32, Cakrabuana, and Inpari IR Nutri Zinc showed different performances at different growing sites and planting systems. The characters of PL, NPB, NSB, PBL, NGPB, TLPB, TLSB, SbperPB, TNGSB and TFG showed positive and significant correlation with the number of total grains per panicle.

Lack of energy chronic has impacts on the fetal and toddler growth, one of it is stunting. The prevalence of stunting in rural areas are higher than those in urban. To overcome the stunting, Ministry of Agriculture through Balitbangtan has released Inpari Nutri Zinc, a nutritious superior rice variety (SRV). This study aims to design an effective channel of propagating the Nutri Zinc seed by collaborate with local stakeholders. The study was done in March 2020 in Bantargebang, Sukabumi. Data was collected through Focus Group Discussion with local stakeholders in District and sub district that contribute with the SRV propagation: the officers, midwife, extension, and farmer group. Result showed that channeling the program with proper stakeholders and target location will establish a successful of the SRV propagation. The collaborated stakeholders were divided from district and sub-district officers. The taskforce in both sites were designed and comprise of a local officer, a village midwife, and an extension. Furthermore, farmers groups managed the propagation and assisted by an extension, where the yield produced will use to support stunting and to provide seed for next farming season.

Increasing of Fe and Zn content in rice grain is expected to be useful to reduce the micronutrient deficiency. This research was aimed to identify rice varieties containing high Fe and Zn content and initially study the correlation among some related traits. The experiment was conducted in October – December 2016 by testing 176 released varieties and 4 elite rice lines. The samples were prepared as brown rice. Fe and Zn contents were measured using XRF Oxford machine which is validated by ICP method. The results showed that Fe content of the tested genotypes is normally distributed ranged from 9.70 ppm to 17.40 ppm with the mean of 13.03 ppm and the Zn content is not normally distributed ranged from 15.80 ppm to 31.10 ppm with the mean of 22.41 ppm. Inventory of local rice varieties in Ciater, Subang District, West Java. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1 (2): 189-193. Local varieties are important genetic resources that must be conserved to support rice breeding program. Ciater is situated in Subang District, West Java where local rice varieties are still cultivated by farmers. However, information about the rice varieties is very limited. This inventory is aimed to obtain information and to collect germplasm of the rice varieties in Ciater area, Subang District-West Java. The research was done from March to Juni 2014. A total of 12 accessions consisting of 5 sticky rice varieties and 7 local varieties was collected and mostly found in Cibeusi village. The rice varieties have harvesting period in an average of about 6 months. They are characterized by a low number of tiller, relatively high stem, and tailed grain. The cultivation system was done by using integrated crop management technology with local customs.

Therefore, genotypic verification is needed to determine the differences between the two Argo rice genotypes. DNA fingerprint could help genotype verification rapidly and the result is not influenced by environmental factors. The aims of this study were to determine the level of similarity of Argo-1 and Argo-2 with swamp rice and other irrigated rice genotypes using microsatellite markers. Cultivation of soybean in row rubber area was one of extensification programme for improving national soybean production. The problem on row rubber area was the low light intensity that could disturb soybean growth. Plant breeding for creating tolerant variety for low light intensity was doing until now. Bogor Agricultural University had many lines for being candidate of tolerant variety. F6 soybean population from single seed descent methode need to explored for that trait on low light intensity condition. The aim of this research was to know the differences of soybean phenotypic between on low light intensity and full light intensity condition. The research was done on March-May 2009. Randomized complete block design with 3 replication was using as experimental design which lines as the treatment on two condition (low light and full light condition). The result saw that low light intensity was changing type of soybean growth, determinate became indeterminate type of growth. Low light intensity made soybean became early on flowering fase and water content on seed was increase. The objective of this research was to determine the trait variance in black soybean lines in term... more The objective of this research was to determine the trait variance in black soybean lines in terms of yield and yield components. The materials used were F8 lines generated from hybridization of two local varieties, i.e. black seeded Ceneng and greenish yellow seeded Godek, and then selected under single seed descent method, except SC-39-1, SC-62-2 and GC- 74-7 that were generated through bulk selection method. The results showed that the traits between plant genotypes were significantly different, except number of productive node and number of unfilled pod. Total variance was contributed more by number of filled pod, seed weight per plant and 100 seed weight. Seed weight per plant and 100 seed weight had high heritability with genetic variance and broad-sense heritability which were significantly different from zero. These characters are important for further selection to improve yields of black soybean lines.

Th... more The condition of rice field without any irrigation is one of the problems in the rainfed land. This rice field only relies on the existence of water during the rainy day. This causes the limitation of water availability which affect plant growth. This study aimed to know the performance of the rice advance lines, estimated the value of genetic parameters and obtains the best line on drought condition. As many as 100 advance lines (> F8) for drought tolerant were tested using Augmented Design in five blocks. A total of six-check varieties were included in the experiment. The research was conducted at Dry Season of 2015 in ICRR-Sukamandi Experimental Field. The result showed that on the drought condition gained the average value for plant height as 103,44 cm, number of productive tillers as 12 tillers, percentage of filling pine grains reached 60,46%, leaf color index as 39,37, and weight of 1.000 grains averaged as 26,34 g, while weight grain per 5 clumps as 166,34 g. Green Super Rice (GSR) was designed to have resistance to major pests and diseases so that it need less pesticides and thus save ro environment. GSR was developed in IRRI and China and was tested in Indonesia since 2009 until now (2019). Inventory of local rice varieties in Ciater, Subang District, West Java. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1 (2): 189-193. Local varieties are important genetic resources that must be conserved to support rice breeding program. Ciater is situated in Subang District, West Java where local rice varieties are still cultivated by farmers. However, information about the rice varieties is very limited. This inventory is aimed to obtain information and to collect germplasm of the rice varieties in Ciater area, Subang District-West Java. The research was done from March to Juni 2014. A total of 12 accessions consisting of 5 sticky rice varieties and 7 local varieties was collected and mostly found in Cibeusi village. The rice varieties have harvesting period in an average of about 6 months. They are characterized by a low number of tiller, relatively high stem, and tailed grain. The cultivation system was done by using integrated crop management technology with local customs.

The trial was conducted at the limited open space with controlled irrigation and drainage system in the area of Indonesian Centre of Rice Research green houses in Subang, West Java, from July to November 2019. Twenty varieties selected from previous drought screenings using concrete box method were transplanted at 21 days after sowing with planting space of 20 x 20 cm 1 – 3 seedling/hill in a single row of 10 plants followed randomized complete block design with two replications. The aims of this study were to determine the level of similarity of Argo-1 and Argo-2 with swamp rice and other irrigated rice genotypes using microsatellite markers. The problem on row rubber area was the low light intensity that could disturb soybean growth. Plant breeding for creating tolerant variety for low light intensity was doing until now. Bogor Agricultural University had many lines for being candidate of tolerant variety. F6 soybean population from single seed descent methode need to explored for that trait on low light intensity condition. The aim of this research was to know the differences of soybean phenotypic between on low light intensity and full light intensity condition. The research was done on March-May 2009. Randomized complete block design with 3 replication was using as experimental design which lines as the treatment on two condition (low light and full light condition). The result saw that low light intensity was changing type of soybean growth, determinate became indeterminate type of growth. Low light intensity made soybean became early on flowering fase and water content on seed was increase. Low light intensity made decreasing the productivity until 37.25% than full light intensity condition.

The objective of this research was to determine the trait variance in black soybean lines in term... more The objective of this research was to determine the trait variance in black soybean lines in terms of yield and yield components. The materials used were F8 lines generated from hybridization of two local varieties, i.e. black seeded Ceneng and greenish yellow seeded Godek, and then selected under single seed descent method, except SC-39-1, SC-62-2 and GC- 74-7 that were generated through bulk selection method. The results showed that the traits between plant genotypes were significantly different, except number of productive node and number of unfilled pod. Total variance was contributed more by number of filled pod, seed weight per plant and 100 seed weight. Seed weight per plant and 100 seed weight had high heritability with genetic variance and broad-sense heritability which were significantly different from zero. These characters are important for further selection to improve yields of black soybean lines.

Th... more The condition of rice field without any irrigation is one of the problems in the rainfed land. This rice field only relies on the existence of water during the rainy day. This causes the limitation of water availability which affect plant growth. This study aimed to know the performance of the rice advance lines, estimated the value of genetic parameters and obtains the best line on drought condition. As many as 100 advance lines (> F8) for drought tolerant were tested using Augmented Design in five blocks. A total of six-check varieties were included in the experiment. The research was conducted at Dry Season of 2015 in ICRR-Sukamandi Experimental Field. The result showed that on the drought condition gained the average value for plant height as 103,44 cm, number of productive tillers as 12 tillers, percentage of filling pine grains reached 60,46%, leaf color index as 39,37, and weight of 1.000 grains averaged as 26,34 g, while weight grain per 5 clumps as 166,34 g.
