The earning opportunity for athletes is brief and they should leverage them as much as possible while thinking about how to make that money last. Athletes in Kenya have been receiving large amounts of monetary prizes after winning in various athletics events. Athletics is an important function in economic development of the country like any other business unit. The sector has raised the name of Kenya globally. When marketing Kenya, the sector has done well to uplift others such as tourism, hospitality industry, education, transport and farming. Athletics has proved to be an economic power house in North Rift, thus the need for financial planning skills. 1.1. Statement of the Problem Most retired athletes in Kenya undergo numerous financial challenges even though they won huge sums of money locally, nationally and internationally during their hey days. High rate of poverty among them and many other socioeconomic problems has been the song of the days. Consequently, many lives of athletes have been lost through drug abuse and death as a result of stress and depression. The researcher in this study set out to address the effect of poor long-term financial performance of athletes in ElgeyoMarakwet County. 1.2. Objective and Justification of the Study The specific objective of the study was to determine effects of financial planning skills on long term financial performance of athletes of ElgeyoMarakwet County. The study provides strategies to enable athletes to plan, budget and visualize the future during their prime time of career and avoid woes that have trapped many retired athletes. 2. Literature Review 2.1. Financial Planning Skills Every business, large or small, must have a financial plan before each term's work. Although planning can be approached differently by small business as compared to huge ones, the fact is that, planning must be exercised. A fair summary of relevant research indicates that, in a dynamic small business, the planning function is given very little consideration while it may be the most important function that the managers have toperform (Walker & Petty,2001). The financial planning process can be approached in different ways; however, the basic ingredients include forecasting, developing a course of action and generating projected financial statements associated with a given set of forecast and actions (Walker & Petty, 2001). Since long-term planning has beendiscussed under capital budgeting and financing decision-making, in this section, the focus will be on short-term financial planning. Gitman (2010) argues that the key aspects of short-term financial planning are profit planning and cash planning. Profit planning is done by compiling pro

It tries to answer this question, in particular, by examining the theoretical foundations of evolutionary economics and the subsequent evolutionary theorization of the firm that stems analytically from evolutionary economics. With this goal in mind, an overview of the relatively recent literature is attempted by presenting some of the significant contributions to evolutionary economics and the evolutionary theory of the firm. Next, it examines the specific way of building the Stra.Tech.Man approach on the production process of innovation and change management, by analyzing how this can lead to the structuration of an evolutionary direction of business planning for any socioeconomic organism.

It shares common data and practices across the enterprise and provides access to information in real time environment. ERP systems are intended to be a single comprehensive and integrated database which collects data from and feeds data into modular applications supporting virtually all of a company's business activities across functions and business units. The study has an overall objective of reviewing the effect of adopting ERPs on performance of public technical institutions, and specifically to examine how accessibility of data has improved organizational performance at Kitale Technical Training Institute, evaluate how database sharing has improved organizational performance at the Institute, to study how reporting for decision making has improved the performance of the institute and to examine how information sharing and networking has improved organizational performance at KTTI. The study will offer valuable contribution to theory and practice on the best approach to take in the process of adopting and implementing ERPs. The outcome will be applied in the development of an ICT Strategy document to guide institutions in terms of ERP adoption, which is relevant in most institutions in Kenya which helps in promoting reporting and availing of information to relevant offices to aid in decision making. Further, the study creates a forum for further discussions on best practices and strategies to implement an ERP system. The study will use the descriptive survey design which will analyze factors such as behavior, attitudes, values and characteristics. This research design is very suitable for this study as it will greatly aid in describing the effects of adopting ERPs on performance of the institute under study. The study sample will be drawn from a population comprising of both teaching and non-teaching staff. Data collection will be done through the use of validated questionnaires, observations and interviews with key players in the Institute.

Stakeholder participatory forums of focus group discussions, community vulnerability assessments and key informants were used to evaluate and rank impact mitigation options in wetland conservation. Results of the study showed that encroachment does not follow any fixed pattern but, rather, is driven by existing conditions of poverty, pursuit of livelihoods in the wetland. The study concludes that wetland encroachment and subsequent degradation is caused by land hunger due to fast rising population, and that participatory management and control measures are best suited to stem further deterioration of wetlands and entrench their conservation. The findings are of significance to policy and extension support institutions, as well as communities in wetlands. The results may also assist researchers and other stakeholders in the furtherance of knowledge on wetland conservation for sustainable development

The study applied a descriptive research design to establish the relationship between variables. Questionnaires were used to collect data and later on analyzed using inferential statistics and presented in frequency tables. Data was obtained from data collection process and the findings were analyzed on the basis of the specific objectives of the study. The objective was: To evaluate the effect of On-the-Job

This often leads to overuse of natural resources and consequent encroachment on fragile ecosystems such as wetlands. The deteriorating state of wetlands and consequent threats to sustainability of livelihoods remains a matter of concern to many governments, especially in developing countries. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of livelihood activities on wetlands. The study used a combination of cross-cultural and cross-sectional, longitudinal survey to elicit information and data. Purposive and non-purposive sampling strategies were applied. The following data collection instruments were used: survey questionnaires, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, observation checklists, community vulnerability assessments, maps from Survey of Kenya, digital camera, geographical positioning and reference equipment, satellite images, and literature in journals and government reports.

A trend is emerging where there is explosive consumer adoption of smart phones and tablets due to their low price and broad applications support that these devices are offering since they are WLAN enabled. Desktop Computers and laptops are used to produce information; while tablets consume information and smart phones to communicate that information. BYOD (Bring your own device) is a term which refers to instances when employees use their personal computing devices (typically smart phones, tablets and laptops) in the workplace. This trend is here to stay and the challenge is that it is a double edged sword pitting user satisfaction and productivity on one end and organizations data security on the other. As more employees look to access corporate networks with their personal mobile devices, vendors must...
