His works have been a source of inspiration for young researchers around the world and, besides, ... more His works have been a source of inspiration for young researchers around the world and, besides, reference material for numerous professionals who produce and have produced knowledge from different standpoints. In this interview, Burke has shown his concern for the future of science and the role that History has in contributing to the solution of the problems of the present. He talked about various topics, generating a constant interaction between local issues and the globalized world: migratory movements, education, communications development, health contingency, political and international conflicts. In addition, with respect to Chile, he referred to the social unrest and the current wording of the New Constitution, explaining that these events have historical roots that can be found in the 1973 coup d'état and the left/right political split that emerged even before of the breakdown of democracy. However, he stressed the relevance of connecting such local problems with what is globally happening when teaching the past in schools and universities. At the various educational levels, it is important to integrate elements such as visual communication through study trips, the use of audiovisual material, etc. Additionally, he communicated the significance of interdiscipline in historiographical work, making various knowledge systems dialogue. Along with the above, he has shown the passion with which he exercises his trade as a historian by involving his vast career with the work of young historians. Finally, we appreciate his valuable advice regarding the importance of integrating theories from other sciences, generating a permanent polyphony and, also, of promoting provocative discussions based on our work among colleagues and contemporaries. 1. Globalization started for economic reasons, but its projections have reached cultural, social, and environmental aspects.
