This includes, most prominently, unauthorized employment and unauthorized residence in the receiving country. Both of these circumstances may be related to prior illegal migration, but do not necessarily have to be. The physical process of migration may have taken place entirely in accordance with the law. This is the starting point for the reconsideration of the standard migration terminology, as proposed in this paper. As three basic dimensions of illegality associated to date with migration analysis may focus on one person in as many as eight different combinations, this would require us to describe a single person using three different terms, which would quickly turn out to be inefficient. For practical reasons, the most convenient term is illegal migrant. Given its vague nature, however, the paper proposes to supplement this using the classification presented in the Migration Legality Cube encompassing eight types, depending on which group of migrants is in focus. This will make it easier for analysts and laymen alike to find their way in the ocean of uncertainty in which current debates on migration drift-and often founder.

First the author examines different types of migration barriers, reaching the conclusion, that since the countries' policies regulate the possibility of border crossing for its' own citizens and for foreigners, therefore in the international migration analysis the economic, social and psychological barriers are secondary to administrative and -political barriers. Next, the author discusses the ongoing integration process of EU countries in the area of standardization of both internal and international migration, in the context of legal regulations and their practical effects on the population flows between the EU countries. He concedes that, internal and international migrations within the EU may be treated with identical principles and analysed jointly. The following review of migration studies, supports further the view, that a dogmatic clingin...

For high-value theft-targeted (HVTT) cargo the driving phase of transportation takes up a major part of thefts. Dozen fleet management solutions based on GNSS positioning were introduced in recent years. Existing tracking solutions barely meet the requirements of TAPA 2020. Map-matching algorithms present valuable ideas on handling GNSS inaccuracy, however, universal map-matching methods are overcomplicated and not suitable for real-time implementation. The dynamic geofencing algorithm presented in this article was developed for the specific purpose of HVTT security. The algorithm is adaptive geometric-based matching (alternately curve-to-curve, point-to-curve, point-to-point). The idea behind the algorithm is to detect and eliminate the atypical matching circumstances - namely if the raw position is registered at one of the exceptions described in the paper. The problem of adaptive cartographic projection is als...

Our aim is to develop a method for measuring SWB by creating a moving matrix scale that will be a reference point in different communities' research on SWB. To do so, we analyzed the relationship between objective WB-SWB indicators in 146 countries and other political entities where studies on self-reported life satisfaction (SRLS) were conducted between 2005 and 2017. SRLS values were compared with the values of several of the most frequently accepted objective WB indicators. Additionally, we analyzed variables showing the level of advancement within the process of globalization. The results confirmed that a comparative scale is crucial in determining SWB. Therefore, in many societies, there is a growing awareness of the gap between one's own quality of life and that of others. There is a strong link between HDI and SRLS on a global scale, as well as in the subgroups of high and medium developed countries; this link is missing in poorly developed countries. The disconnection between objective and subjectively perceived change in the situation-that is, the improvement in living standards-does not translate into increased life satisfaction.

Boosting globalisation processes imposes additional challenges on European societies, striving to protect their diversity. This struggle is especially clearly visible in the case of minority communities who try to resist melting into the mainstream culture. European countries’ legal systems and cultural policies respond to these efforts in many different ways. Respecting identity politics-driven group rights seems to be the most common approach, resulting in the creation of a multicultural society. However, the outcome of respecting group rights may be remarkably contradictory to both individual rights growing out from the liberal tradition, and to the reinforced concept of integration of immigrants into host societies. This paper discusses globalisation-prompted identity ...

They are, among others: Byelorussians, Lithuanians, Russians and Tatars. Some of those groups compose numerous and well-organized societies which are supported by compatriots or coreligionists living abroad. Some others are small and additionally scattered over vast areas. Amongst Poles they constitute “islands of dissimilarity” within which they have to take care of their religion and customs by themselves. The excellent example of such a minority are Old Believers who live in barely several towns and villages in Podlaskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship. The main indicator of difference of this group is religion. In spite of the fact that they tend to preserve their original identity, they cannot avoid interferences of elements of Polish culture into their own culture. Also every-day life conditions and necessity to ...

Chelmsko-zamojski region, located in the borderland of Poland and Ukraine, is one of the most underdeveloped regions in the EU. The main branch of its economy is still agriculture. Since political and economic transformation of Poland, that began over 20 years ago, agrarian structure of the region has undergone considerable changes. However, analysing agriculture without examining other elements of socioeconomic structure of the region would not enable painting the complete image of changes. The hereby paper analyses possible future changes of three selected supply chains: milk supply chain, rapeseed supply chain and beer supply chain, on the basis of their former transformations. Main sources of information are opinions of representatives of particular stages of selected supply chains. They were confronted with one another, and also with available literature, to avoid ...
