La crianza de un nino en sus primeros anos de vida conlleva multiples tareas, se necesitan tiempo... more La crianza de un nino en sus primeros anos de vida conlleva multiples tareas, se necesitan tiempo, atencion y muchos cuidados, que para muchas madres podrian resultar abrumadores. El objetivo de la investigacion fue identificar la relacion entre el estres parental y las practicas de crianza en madres con al menos un hijo de 0-36 meses de edad residentes de Metepec, se trabajo con100 participantes aplicandoles el Instrumento de Indice de Estres Parental (Abidin, 1992) y la Escala de Habitos de Crianza y Actitudes Maternas (Loreto, 1986). Las puntuaciones mas altas de estres se obtuvieron en los factores de reforzamiento y aceptancia de los ninos, y en la competencia de las madres.En los habitos de crianza, la media mas alta se obtuvo en rol materno. Solo se encontraron dos correlaciones estadisticamente significativas entre los factores de ambas variables. Se concluye que es necesario tomar en consideracion otros factores para el analisis del estres materno.

The applications of exogenous hormones in different species for the induction of oocyte productio... more The applications of exogenous hormones in different species for the induction of oocyte production, final oocyte maturation (FOM), and spawning for their reproduction is getting more attention day by day. The current preliminary research work was carried out to induce breeding in Clarias gariepinus, commonly known as African catfish, imported from Thailand. Single doses of two hormones as Ovaprim and human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG) were used and the research work was carried out at Muzaffargarh Fish Hatchery Punjab, Pakistan. A total of twenty-four (n = 24) C. gariepinus were selected having body weight approximately 2 kg and divided into two main groups based on gender as male (n = 12) and female (n = 12). For milt collection, all males were treated with Ovaprim 0.5 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) and female fish were divided into three groups as A, B, and C with four (n = 4) fish in each group. Group A was injected with only normal saline (control group) while fish in group B and group C were treated with hMG at 0.5 mg/kg b.w. and Ovaprim 0.5 mg/kg b.w., respectively. Then, after 6 h of hormone injections until 48 h, spawned eggs, eggs' weight, fertilization rate, hatching rate, survival rate, fecundity, and deformed larvae were investigated. The results revealed that Ovaprim injection significantly (p < 0.05) modulate the reproductive parameters in group C while no breeding was induced in both control and hMG-treated groups. Hence, it could be concluded that Ovaprim has the potential to induce breeding in African catfish, while in the current study, hMG failed to induce breeding. However, trials at large scales are required to further explore the effect of different doses of both tested hormones by increasing the treated subjects particularly in Pakistani fish farms.

Nature's pharmacy has undoubtedly served humans as an affordable and safer health-care regime... more Nature's pharmacy has undoubtedly served humans as an affordable and safer health-care regime for a long times. Cardamonin, a chalconoid present in several plants has been known for a longtime to have beneficial properties towards human health. In this review, we aimed to highlight the recent advances achieved in discovering the pharmacological properties of cardamonin. Cardamonin is cardamom-derived chalcone, which plays a role in cancer treatment, immune system modulation, inflammation and pathogens killing. Through the modulation of cellular signaling pathways, cardamonin activates cell death signal to induce apoptosis in malignant cells that results in the inhibition of cancer development. Moreover, cardamonin arrests cell cycle by altering the expression of regulatory proteins during malignant cells division. Due to its relatively selective cytotoxic potential against host malignant cells, cardamonin is emerging as a promising novel experimental anticancer agent. The potential of cardamonin to target various signaling molecules, transcriptional factors, cytokines and enzymes, such as mTOR, NF-κB, Akt, STAT3, Wnt/β-catenin and COX-2 enhances the opportunity to explore it as a new multi-target therapeutic agent. The pharmacokinetic and biosafety profile of cardamonin favor it as a potentially safe biomolecule for pharmaceutical drug development.

The symmetries and unit cell dimensions of crystals of Na 4 P 2 o 7 , ~-Ba 2 P 2 o 7 and H 4 P 2 ... more The symmetries and unit cell dimensions of crystals of Na 4 P 2 o 7 , ~-Ba 2 P 2 o 7 and H 4 P 2 o 7 have been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. Changes in symmetry and unit cell dimensions of Na 4 P 2 o 7 as a function of temperature have been described and a model has been proposed describing the statis tics of these changes. The existence of disorder in the crystal structure of ~-Ba 2 P 2 o 7 has been established and the unit cell dimensions of a previously unreported low tempera ture form are reported.
