They thought about different situations: normal soil without addition of Ogal (control), polluted soil without addition of Ogal and polluted soil and concentrations of Ogal 20, 40, 60 80 and 100 kg ha-1 respectively. The copper content was measured in the soil, pH and organic matter of the soil and longitude (air and underground) of the tomato plants. The results show that the lenght of the plants that grew in a polluted soil one without the product application suffered a significant descent with relationship to the control; however to those that was applied the product, they diminished their lenght, but not so markedly as the previous ones. On the other hand, the cation of the system experiented an increase of their mobility with the presence of the Ogal mixture, being bigge...

The present study was carried out to determine the tolerance to salinity of some cuban cultivars of chickpea and its relationship with indicators of the development and accumulation of ions in the different organs of the plant. For this, eight chickpea cultivars exposed to two treatments, 0 and 50 mM NaCl, were studied. The results showed that the cultivars Nac-29, Nac-5HA and JP-94 were the ones that showed the highest degree of tolerance to salinity. The cultivar N-29 turned out to be more tolerant and although it diminished its growth, the results show that it also accumulated less quantity of ions in the different organs of the plant, in the two conditions of imposed salinity. Therefore, it can be inferred that the reduction in growth was related to some inability of the chickpea plants to prevent high concentrations of saline...

Its high mobility and bioaccumulative power differentiate it from the rest of its group and motivate the interest of scientists to know its effects and interaction with plants. In the present work, a bibliographic review of the main mechanisms of entry and transport of the Cd in the plants and their toxic effects in them was carried out. Also, issues such as the defense mechanisms of plants against Cd stress and existing strategies to reduce their toxicity are addressed. Within the different crops, tomato is of special interest, because it is the most widespread vegetable in the world and has been shown to be a plant tolerant to Cd and with potential for its accumulation.

Cuba is not exempt from these problems, and its national politics towards water promotes the implementation of this practice. Therefore, in the current paper, an attempt has been carried out to characterize and to assess the quality of mining sewage water and its use in agriculture. To achieve successfully this aim, five punctual samples were collected from the creek “Biajaca”, where sewage waters coming from Minas Castellano, in Minas de Matahambre, Pinar de Rio are discharged. These five punctual samples to form one composed sample were combined and so the pH and electrical conductivity were measured. After filtering and keeping the proper conservation, the following elements Na, K, Ca, Mg, B, Al, Bi, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Li, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sr, ...
