Extra supplementation of vitamins and minerals responsible for hoof health is recommended in some dairy herds during this period. The present study was conducted by fortifying 10, 20 and 30 mg/d of biotin and 2 g/d of zinc sulphate during pre- and post-partum period (2 months before and 2 months after calving) of 40 high yielding lame crossbred KF cows, distributed into control and three treatment groups. The study revealed that, fortification of transition diet with biotin and Zn significantly reduced the lameness score and recovery time in supplemental groups compare to control group. In T-1, the lameness score was reduced by 1.3, T-2 reduction was maximum by 2, T-3 by 1.5, and in control 0.02 with their respective recovery period of hoof lesions were 38.9±1.1 (T-1) 19.12±1.8 (T-2), 25.3±1.4 (T-3) and 56.2±2.7 days. 'Z' test analysis indicated that there was significant difference in socioeconomic status of the beneficiaries and non beneficiaries viz; milk consumption, milk sale at 5 % level of probability, while; herd size, type of animal shed, material possession, milk production, annual income from dairying, annual gross income of the respondents at 1 % level of probability. Similarly, there was significant difference in productive and reproductive performance of Murrah buffaloes of the beneficiaries and non beneficiaries viz; age at first calving, calving interval, at 5 % level of probability; while, number of AIs required per conception, lactation length, dry period, average lactation milk yield, average daily milk yield and peak yield at 1 % level of probability. Most of the beneficiaries (73.75%) had medium level overall impact of IMDS on socioeconomic status of the beneficiaries followed by high (17.50%) and low (8.75%). Whereas, medium level overall impact of IMDS was found on the productive and reproductive performance of Murrah buffaloes of the majority beneficiaries (89.38%) followed by high impact on few (10.63%). Such development programmes should be promoted for the improvement of socio economic status of farmers as well as improvement of milk productivity of the animals.

There is a great demand of this high yielding elite breed not only from within but outside the country. The present study investigates the existing status of Murrah buffalo marketing pattern in Haryana. It was found that majority of the beneficiaries (78.75%) and non-beneficiaries (65.63%) decided to purchase whereas, 75.00% beneficiaries and 65.63% non-beneficiaries decided to sell the buffaloes by themselves. The preferred place of marketing of buffalo was village itself. Whereas preferred season of sell or purchase was winter. Dairy characteristic mainly milk yield considered as major criteria of selection of Murrah buffalo owner during purchase. Majority of the beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries were interested in recording 2-3 milking before purchasing the Murrah buffaloes. It was also evident that the respondents were practicing the various improved identificat...
