The study aimed to investigate the factors leading to the loss of electricity in Ramallah and Al-... more The study aimed to investigate the factors leading to the loss of electricity in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate in Palestine. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, descriptive and quantitative analysis was used in this study. Based on the data of the Jerusalem Electricity Company, and the data of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics for 2010-2018, the ordinary least squares method was used in regression analysis, and by granger causality test the hypotheses were tested using EViews. The study found that there is a causal negative relationship between wages, the number of prepaid electricity meters, fines imposed on violators, and the number of participants on the loss of electricity. While there was no causal relationship between the price of electricity, the unemployment rate, the rate of education, and spending on maintenance on the loss of electricity.
The study aimed to determine the effect of taxes and fees on the productivity of the industrial s... more The study aimed to determine the effect of taxes and fees on the productivity of the industrial sector in Palestinian case, also in the details at the level of economic activity. To achieve the objectives of this study, the descriptive and quantitative methodology was used. Based on the data of the economic survey series cross sectional data in 2015 was used and, provided by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the Ordinary Least Squares Method (OLS) was used in regression analysis. The study found that the effect of taxes on the productivity of the industrial sector is small in general and varies according to the nature of the economic activity. This is different from the expectation that the effect of taxes will be negative. This is mainly because the high degree of tax evasion in Palestine while it does not constitute as a burden in other countries.
The study aims at investigating the environmental and economic effects of paper consumption and c... more The study aims at investigating the environmental and economic effects of paper consumption and computer usage in the Banking sector in Palestine. The research mainly depends on the descriptive and quantitative method. In addition, it collects the data annually and it covers the period from 2016 to 2018. The study has found out that the total cost of using paper in the banks in Palestine is about 3.24 million dollars because they consume about 658.4 tons of paper. Looking at paper production process, this amount of paper needs about 16 thousand pine trees, 25 million btus of energy, and 13.5 million gallons. Looking at the total costs of using computers in the banks in Palestine, it costs about 7.6 million dollars and about 122 tons of different minerals and materials which are required to manufacture computers in the banks in Palestine. In addition, it needs about 1.52 GW per year to operate all computers. Hence, this causes the release of greenhouse gases which is equivalent to the consumption of 2495 barrels of oil.

The study measures the degree of competition in the banking industry in Palestine for the period ... more The study measures the degree of competition in the banking industry in Palestine for the period from 2006 to 2010. It begins by measuring Lerner index, and then estimates the determinants of market power by regressing Lerner index on returns of assets and lending preferences. It uses data on 18 working banks in Palestine; the data is secondary, time-series and cross-sectional obtained by the Association of Banks in Palestine. The study establishes the log-log model for estimation and tests the variables according to the Ordinary Least Square method. The study concludes that the banking industry in Palestine is controlled by a few players, the assets concentration ratio is about 75%. About 72% of the working banks can raise the price above the marginal cost, and then able to earn profits.

The study aimed to investigate the factors that affect the solvency of the insurance companies in... more The study aimed to investigate the factors that affect the solvency of the insurance companies in Palestine and to highlight the nature and strength of the relationship between liquidity, investment, leverage, claims and the solvency of the insurance companies in Palestine.To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive and quantitative analysis methods were used in the study. Based on the data of the financial statements of seven insurance companies (out of 9 companies) and by using regression of fixed effects of panel data for 2010-2017, the study found that the claims have a positive effect on the financial solvency and leverage has a negative effect on the solvency of insurance companies in Palestine, while investment and liquidity have an insignificant effect on financial solvency.

The aim of the study is to explore and determine the factors influencing household expenditure on... more The aim of the study is to explore and determine the factors influencing household expenditure on electricity in Palestine for 2011, using the ordinary least squares method in data analysis, and using the logarithmic model. The effect of the number of dwelling rooms, number of bedrooms, income, number of family members, and goods and services on household electricity expenditure. The study found that the number of rooms in the dwelling, number of bedrooms, income, number of family members, total expenditure on goods and services were all statistically significant and positively associated with spending on electricity. The study showed that the urban areas are the most spending on electricity, and according to the region, the study showed that the central areas of the West Bank is the most spending on electricity, while it was found that the housing used in the construction of external walls concrete, the least expenditure on electricity.
