In the international literature there are many documented studies which have shown the connection... more In the international literature there are many documented studies which have shown the connection between leadership and commitment to organization. Specifically, transformational leadership is highly associated with this important and positive work attitude, job satisfaction. The interpretation in a school context is that the director should practice as transformational leader so as to produce better educational outcomes through teachers' commitment to school goals. In Greece, little empirical research has been done to investigate the perceptions of teachers about the connection between transformational leadership and organizational commitment. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the perceptions of teachers to the extent that transformational leadership contributes to commitment to school goals. The selected research method is a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, namely using questionnaire and interview. The sample consisted of 171 teachers from two types of educational institutions, lower and upper general secondary schools of a local administration of secondary education. The survey's results showed that teachers feel substantial commitment to school goals when the school principal acts as transformational leader. Demographic variables, type of school and work experience, do not affect the views of teachers.

The relationship of head nurse leadership style to staff nurse job satisfaction was investigated ... more The relationship of head nurse leadership style to staff nurse job satisfaction was investigated using the leadership paradigm of transformational and transactional leadership. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire and the Index of Work Satisfaction were completed by 122 staff nurses employed throughout acute care community hospitals in many patient care areas. Correlations showed a significant positive relationship between those head nurses exhibiting a transformational leadership style and the job satisfaction of their staff nurses.

Nowadays, a major problem of the teenager is the choice of career path to follow. Vocational identity is an important aspect of individual identity that adolescents explore and are asked, in high school mainly, to choose an orientation group (general high school) or sector (vocational high school) and consequently the subject of study and field of work. Their decision to choose studies and profession is not easy. The teacher specializing in Counselingand Orientation has the opportunity to help adolescents to understand their personalities and interests, combining Counseling and the use of appropriate psychometric tools. The qualitative research, in which 19 students of the Third Grade of Lyceum participated, showed that they discovered, confirmed and reflected on issues of their professional identity, using the Holland Personality and Vocational Guidance ...

Μέσα από το σχέδιο διδασκαλίας που ακολουθεί επιχειρείται η διασύνδεση της ποίησης με τα μαθηματ... more Μέσα από το σχέδιο διδασκαλίας που ακολουθεί επιχειρείται η διασύνδεση της ποίησης με τα μαθηματικά στο έργο ενός μεγάλου νεοέλληνα ποιητή, του Ο. Ελύτη, και η ανάδειξή τους ως δύο πνευματικών δραστηριοτήτων, οι οποίες, μολονότι έχουν διαφορετική αφετηρία, μπορούν συνδυαζόμενες να περιγράψουν και να ερμηνεύσουν πληρέστερα τη βιοτική και βιωματική μας πραγματικότητα, τον κόσμο και τη δομή του. Ειδικότερα, οι μαθητές-τριες έχουν την ευκαιρία να επιχειρήσουν μία νέα ερμηνευτική προσέγγιση του έργου του Ο. Ελύτη ανιχνεύοντας σε αυτό μαθηματικά στοιχεία (δομικά, αριθμητικά, γεωμετρικά), να τεκμηριώσουν τις επιδράσεις της αρχαίας ελληνικής φιλοσοφίας στο έργο του καθώς και της δημοτικής και εκκλησιαστικής μας παράδοσης και να ανακαλύψουν με οδηγό το έργο του τους μυστικούς αριθμούς της φύσης. Ακόμη, καλούνται να διερευνήσουν τη συνομιλία του ποιητικού και πεζού έργου του Ο. Ελύτη με το εικαστικό (συνεικόνες) και να διαπιστώσουν την προτίμησή του στο έργο των κυβιστών καθώς και στην καθαρότητα και λιτότητα της δομής μέσα από εικαστικές συνθέσεις και εικόνες από την αρχαιότητα.

Για τον εκπαιδευτικό πράξης παραμένει αμείωτο το ενδιαφέρον τι ενθαρρύνει τους μαθητές να μάθουν ... more Για τον εκπαιδευτικό πράξης παραμένει αμείωτο το ενδιαφέρον τι ενθαρρύνει τους μαθητές να μάθουν και τι ρόλο παίζει το συναίσθημα στη μάθηση. Η παρούσα εργασία στοχεύει να εξετάσει θεωρητικές μελέτες και εμπειρικές έρευνες γύρω από τα δύο αυτά
ζητήματα και να καταλήξει σε συμπεράσματα τόσο για τον ενισχυτικό ή ανασταλτικό ρόλο των θετικών και αρνητικών συναισθημάτων στη μάθηση όσο και για την υποστηρικτική στάση του εκπαιδευτικού προς τους μαθητές στην έκφραση και διαχείριση των
συναισθημάτων τους. Από τη βιβλιογραφική έρευνα προκύπτει ότι τα συναισθήματα αποτελούν κίνητρα που μπορούν να ενισχύσουν ή να αναστείλουν το ενδιαφέρον των μαθητών για μάθηση και είναι σημαντικό οι εκπαιδευτικοί να εκτιμήσουν τη σημασία τους.
Με βάση αυτήν την ανασκόπηση προτρέπουμε τους εκπαιδευτικούς να εντείνουν τις προσπάθειές τους προς αυτήν την κατεύθυνση ως μέρος του παιδαγωγικού και διδακτικού τους ρόλου.

In Greece, little empirical research has been done to investigate Junior High School students' pe... more In Greece, little empirical research has been done to investigate Junior High School students' perceptions on the teacher's role in a guidance and counseling framework, and no recent research at all for High School students respectively. The purpose of the present study fills that gap, using a quantitative research method. The sample consists of 487 students from three General Junior High Schools (Gymnasium) and three General High Schools (Lyceum), as well as one Vocational High School (EPAL). The results show clearly that students desire to have counseling support at their school and also need their teachers to have guidance and counseling skills, to listen to and understand their problems, to support them with what troubles them, to encourage them and contribute to the development of their personality.
