"A new Ugaritic document, found in the House of Urtenu, mentions the amounts of copper and tin ne... more "A new Ugaritic document, found in the House of Urtenu, mentions the amounts of copper and tin needed for the manufacture of forty wheeled stands. The present article uses relevant biblical and archaeological data to clarify the form and function of these stands. In addition, it discusses the implications of the document for the study of bronzeworking and of the connections between
Ugarit and Cyprus during the Late Bronze Age."

This study discusses the Iron Age IIA (tenth–ninth centuries BCE) cult place at Lachish in the Ju... more This study discusses the Iron Age IIA (tenth–ninth centuries BCE) cult place at Lachish in the Judahite Shephelah, Israel. The architecture and the artifacts of Sanctuary 49 and of the additional cultic remains in its vicinity are re-evaluated,
and the recently proposed revision of the excavator’s stratigraphic conclusions is critically assessed. The article delineates the rich cultural background and the region-specific features of the evolving Judahite cult and ritual practices as
revealed at Lachish.

The article examines an Iron Age II B–C ceramic form, the mortarium bowl, which is usually acknow... more The article examines an Iron Age II B–C ceramic form, the mortarium bowl, which is usually acknowledged as an imported type, but not yet fully integrated into the study of east Mediterranean trade during this period. Several mortaria are examined by Thin Section Petrographic Analysis, and the previous studies of Iron Age II and Persian period mortaria are reviewed in light of its results. It is argued that Cyprus was the main production centre of mortaria imported to the southern Levant and discusses the significance of these vessels
within the framework of late Iron Age eastern Mediterranean international trade.
