Based on three distinct techniques, three separate multiple linear regression (MLR) prediction models of O3concentration were developed.MLR3had the highest correlation coefficient of 0.792 during development as compared to models MLR1and MLR2. MLR2was deemed the best O3 prediction model, however, since it had the lowest error values of root mean square error (3.976) and mean absolute error (3.548) when compared to other models. The establishment of an O3prediction model can offer local governments with early information that could help them reduce and manage air pollution emissions.

Hence, determining the factors responsible for the significant increase in COVID-19 cases is the top priority issue for the government to take necessary action and ultimately restrain this virus before the vaccine availability. Researchers had predicted that air pollution had an indirect relationship with COVID-19 in terms of virus infections. As a result, this study focuses on the link between the Air Pollutant Index (API) and COVID-19 infections. The initial data set consists of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia and API readings obtained from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Department of the Environment (DOE). The results show that Klang (S22) recorded the highest mean of API which at 62.70 while the lowest is at Limbang (S37) (25.37). Next, due to the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia and reducing social movement, 27 stations recorded a good level of API compare to the stations that recorded moderate and unhealthy levels. There is positive relationship between API and COVID-19 at each of the region which are North 0.4% (R2=0.004), Central 2.1% (R2=0.021), South 0.04% (R2=0.0004), East 1.6% (R2=0.016), Sarawak 0.2% (R2=0.002), meanwhile Sabah recorded negative correlation at 4.3% (R2=0.043). To conclude, the API value did not have a strong relationship with the rising number of COVID-19 daily cases © 2022 by Asian Association for Atmospheric Environment

However, good ventilation and suitable types of furniture materials in the indoor environment were important to preserve better indoor air quality for the occupants. In this study, the status of indoor air pollution using in-situ measurement for chemical and physical parameters had been examined. The chemical parameters measured were formaldehyde (CH2O, ppm), carbon monoxide (CO, ppm), carbon dioxide (CO2), fine particulate matter (PM2.5, mg/m3) and coarse particulate matter (PM10, mg/m3). The physical parameters such as relative humidity (RH, %), temperature (T, °C) and air movement (AM, m/s) were also measured. The dominant sources of IAQ had been determined by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Principle Component (PC-2, S1) and PC-1 (S2) (CO, CO2 and CH2O) have become the indicator for chemical contaminants and the number of occupants that present in the library. The main co...

Ozone (O3) is one of the pollutants that can give adverse effects to human health either in long- term or short-term effect. Moreover, it also can interrupt the normal ecosystem and cause extinction in species. This study aims to analyse the annual trends of the concentration of ozone (O3) level for 3-year and the diurnal trends of ozone at Kemaman, Terengganu. One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) revealed that there exists statistically significant different (p<0.05) of O3 concentrations during year 2012-2014. Meanwhile, diurnal trend showed the lowest O3 concentration values in the morning and the highest average concentration values of O3 in the noon, but it starts to decrease gradually in evening and night. The understanding of the ozone trend, yearly and hourly, can helps in tackling the atmospheric pollution problems due to industrializa...

Occupational noise is a noise emitted from various industries that effect the workers’ safety and health. A prolonged exposure towards noise can bring negative effects to the receptor, resulting in noise induce hearing loss (NIHL) diseases. The state of Kedah is known as the rice bowl of Malaysia, producing more than half of the country’s home grown rice supply. Majority of the rice mill is situated in Kedah where the major occupational hazard for the workers is noise during the operation of various machines to convert paddy to rice. The aim of this study is to assess the noise risk assessment in the rice mill. The noise level was measured during working hours of 0900hrs – 1800hrs for three consecutive days using sound level meter. The evaluated daily noise level Leq , did not exceeded the limit enacted by the Occupational ...
