The study employed an experimental research design in which a cross-sectional sample of 100 respondents was collected using both closed and open-ended interview schedules. The study employed STATA in data analysis where descriptive and quantitative outputs were obtained. Findings showed that age, marital status, and personal decisions of VICOBA beneficiaries were positively correlated and significant with financial management at p<0.05 and p<0.01 levels, respectively. Furthermore, it was found that household size, experience, and financial literacy were inversely correlated and statistically significant with financial management at p<0.01 level. It was therefore concluded that age, marital status, and personal decisions of beneficiaries have a positive influence on financial management contrary to household size, experience, a...

Bolstering the entrepreneurial and innovation-oriented mindsets, primarily among younger generations, might be considered crucial for the successful economic and social evolvement. Detecting the appropriate reasons which induce youngsters, especially students, to become entrepreneurs is a potentially valuable input for different policymakers and a problem explored in this paper. Personal attitudes, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control are called motivational ' antecedents' of entrepreneurial intentions and has been thoroughly studied within the theory of planned behaviour, developed by Ajzen (1991). The applicability of Ajzen' s model for predicting the main antecedents of entrepreneurial intentions were successfully tested in this study among students with or without international studying experience, as well as distinctions considering several background (individual and social) factors. The results of the correlation and regression analysis pointed out that personal attitudes towards entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial ability represent the most relevant components of the theory of planned behaviour model, while subjective norms have a minor role. Statistically significant differences were found in six factors: age, family background, household incomes, profession, country of origin, and student exchange programmes. These results confirmed previous conclusions about the explanation power of Ajzen' s model to predict entrepreneurial intentions and brought empirical evidence about studying abroad experience which has a noticeable impact on predictors of entrepreneurial intention among students, which potentially deserves additional incentives from policymakers and higher education institutions.

However, little information is available on how Mbeya University of Science and Technology [MUST] have nurtured the innovative potentials of students on their innovative intentions attitudes. Therefore, this study assessed the perceptions of innovative intentions of graduates at MUST in their differential fields of study. This research used experimental research design and stratified and purposive sampling techniques were used. Closed questionnaire based on three points Likert scale was used to assess students’ perceptions in which a sample of 352 cross sectional data was collected and descriptive analysis was done using SPPSS. Results showed that 69.1%, 71.1%, 71.4% of respondents perceived that lack of finance, team work, and project management skills were most related to economic factors and management skills about project management that could affect innovation process in their specializations. These findings, therefore was concluded that innovation intentions of graduates could be affected by entrepreneur, lack of finance, teamwork and project management skills. Therefore, it is recommended that MUST should optimize students’ skills on entrepreneur, finance, teamwork, and project management skills so as to enhance graduates innovation intentions for self employment.

However, little information on what could have been happened if there could be no intervention is available. This study was conducted to assess the livelihood impact of Tanzania Social Action Fund intervention in Agriculture for vulnerable communities in Makete and Rungwe Districts. This research examined whether intervention in food security is a panacea for the vulnerable communities. A quasi-experimental design was used to collect a sample of 239 and 115 recipient and non-recipient households and triangulation approaches were employed, respectively. Paired -test, chi-square test and phi-coefficient were used to ascertain the significance of the means of differences, comparing sample variance and strength of relationship between qualitative variables, respectively. Results showed that recipients were food insecure than non recipients. Based on these findings, it is concluded that intervention on food security through participation is not a panacea to vulnerable communities. Therefore, it is recommended that intervention should be on prevention basis rather than coping strategies.

Yet, little information is available on the profit margin differences between roasted fresh green maize and dry maize. This study therefore was conducted to investigate the profit margin differences between roasted fresh green and dry maize in Mbeya City and Mbeya District. The study employed both snowballing and random sampling plan whereby a sample of 70 respondents was collected. Present study used SPSS in data analysis while descriptive and multiple regression techniques were employed. As a result, the mean of profit margin, operation cost and capital invested were compared. Results showed that the profit margins of both businesses, the operation cost, as well start-up capital were statistically significant at (P<0.01), (P<0.05) and (P<0.01) levels, respectively. Suggesting that profit margin of roasted green maize was higher than of dry maize as well as the operation cost. Contrary to these, the start up capital for roasted green maize was lower than that of dry maize business. Based on survey findings it was concluded that business of roasted green maize had higher profit margin than dry maize. It is therefore recommended that the government should not restrict the green roasted maize business and that the decisions should be left to the producers and business dealers. Further, it is also recommended that the government should register all roasted green maize dealers and find a way of taxing them equally to dry maize businesses in regard to the profit generated.

Little evidences are known on the sustainability of the productive assets created for vulnerable groups. Thus, this study was conducted to assess the livelihood impact assessment of Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) intervention on rural vulnerable groups in Makete and Rungwe Districts, Tanzania. However, this article examined the sustainability of productive assets created. A stratified sample of 239 recipients and 115 non-recipients in public works, carpentry, dairy cattle and poultry projects were interviewed. A quasi-experimental and cross sectional design was used to collect data. Descriptive statistics and instrumental variables/2SLS approaches were used to analyze data. Results showed that only carpentry project was significantly sustainable. Based on these findings, it was concluded that project sustainability depends on its nature and vulnerability of beneficiaries. This therefore it is recommended that the government should create assets through thorough participatory identification of the nature of projects relevant to the target group(s). In addition, local government authorities should implement assets created through training, supervision and regular field exchange visits.
