Approach-The Lean Manufacturing methodology was developed to present in a logical chaining way the methods specific to this concept of production management, and as to allow efficient analysis and continuous increase of the performance of an assembly line. This chaining requires that, according to the results of each method application, specific paths/ methods will be followed/ applied. Findings-This methodology was experimented and validated in the laboratory which integrates an experimental demonstrator (an assembly line of an experimental product), software (to analyse, improve or optimize different layouts of the workstations or line production and production flows) and specific concepts (learning, experimenting and research platforms) of the Lean Learning Factory. Along with the "Lean cubes" platforms, for each Lean method (5S, VSM, DOJO, Poka-Yoke etc.), flowcharts and tables specific to their application were made. Research limitations/implications-The developed methodology allowed the increase, during the project/ research, of the TRL level (technological training level) of the experimental demonstrator from 2 to 4. The platforms specific to Lean methods can be used for other production systems, being able to be used successfully in any Lean learning factory, but the experimental demonstrator is intended only for assembly lines. Practical implications-The lean manufacturing methodology presented in this paper can be used successfully in the "Lean learning factory" type laboratory for the education and training of students and employees of companies in the automotive industry. Originality/value-The study is part of a research project of the authors, which has as aim the development of a methodology of improvement of production flows in the automotive industry, by integrating modern techniques and instruments of production management.

The use of AGV systems has taken attention of practitioners and researchers. Therefore, in this article, we will present a sizing study of an AGV loop used to supply an assembly line. The study was made by a multidisciplinary team from the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology of the University of Pitesti. The Payback period calculus in the implementation of an AGV network in the supply of an assembly line workstations is essential for the implementation.

To be able to face all these demands, they must have a competitive production system. Until now, research has focused on methods to improve production, but today companies are beginning to realize that an improvement in internal logistics is equally an alternative to attract a new advantage on their side. For this reason, the main objective of the research in this article is to study the influence of the synchronous workstation supply method. On the performance of assembly lines. With the help of experience plans, the influence of certain input data (daily demand and diversity) considered at certain levels on the total cost was obtained. The values of these functions (response variables) that correspond to the factors and levels imposed by the experience plan, were obtained with the help of process simulation in the ARENA program. The analysis of the cost pointed out the fact synchronous supply methos have a significant influence on assembly lines performance.

For this reason, the objective of the research performed in this paper is to determine the impact of Kanban control methods on the performance indicators, total cost and interoperation stock of a production system, given the fact that many system parameters are variable. The main conclusion drawn from the results is that when the input parameters vary within certain limits the control method with the best performance indicators for a production line can be established following the methodology used in this paper. Methodology is a useful tool in the hand of those who design production systems because it allows the choice of the control method which provides the best performances, at least from the viewpoint of two indicators: costs and stocks.

The companies that along the years implemented Lean Manufacturing, reached a spectacular development, mainly because with the same workforce and financial resources, succeeded to increase significantly their profit (some reached up to 300-400% increase). The strength of Lean concept is the calculation of value of product for the final client, considering each stage of manufacturing. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is to analyze and improve the manufacturing flow of a component, from the system entry point to its exit using Flow Mapping and Value Stream Mapping. After all the actions on improving the flow, the activities without added value decreased with 15.92% and the lead time with 15.61%

For this reason, the objective of the research in this paper was to determine the impact of Kanban, Conwip and Base stock methods to control a production system, in terms of input variables in between certain limits on the output performance indicators of the production system. The analysis of the cost pointed out the fact that production control methods have a significant influence on this indicator of production.

The Kanban solution is part of the Just in Time (JIT) class for optimizing industrial production flow planning. It is based on a more efficient management of the production flow through the exchange of tickets between the workstations supplying the parts - the upstream posts to the production flow - and the ones receiving the parts - the downstream in production flow. When a downstream workstation processes several parts (or batches), it will send a production ticket that will be displayed in the view tableau. The upstream workstation consults the view tableau and adjusts its production to meet the needs of the downstream workstations. A batch of parts processed upstream will be stored in a warehouse or shipped to the downstream post associated with the label in the view tableau. Next, when the batch reaches the downstream post and is processe...

In the field of automotive industry, the demands for the product increase and the company need to satisfy the demand. As the demands increases, the company should produce more product than usual. In the same time the comfort and health of the workers should be consider. Some factors such as workstation design should take into consideration in order to increase the productivity and at the same time protect workers from accidents and health problem. Therefore, the workstations need to be redesign by applying the ergonomics principles. This paper presents the combined application of Artificial Neural Networks and the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) Analysis in the process of redesign ergonomic workstations. Artificial Neural Networks excel in gathering difficult non-linear relationships between the inputs and outputs of a system. We used, in this work, a feed forw...
