Studies on operational energy have been widely discussed, while studies on building embodied energy are still quite rare to be studied, especially in Indonesia. In fact, the calculation of embodied energy, especially on embodied energy material, is important in the design phase of the building because it can be used as the basis for various determinations of building energy values and carbon emissions generated by buildings due to construction activities. By using the right tools in the embodied energy calculation, the building planner can determine the right embodied energy value so that it can support the building energy mitigation. This paper aims to explain the use of embodied energy building calculation software that have been developed with the aim of providing an overview and supporting research development of embodied energy building in Indonesia.

BIM itself is one of the methods for carrying out building energy efficiency because it has dimensional features that can create collaborative work processes efficiently. This paper aims to describe BIM and building energy workflows in the design process and see the trend of BIM utilization in Indonesia, especially in the architectural design process. The methodology of this paper is a survey by online questionnaire for BIM stakeholders to make an overview of to what extent construction industry stakeholders have utilized BIM in Indonesia, especially in the design phase especially in building energy simulation. The BIM workflow that is integrated into building energy calculations can make the energy-oriented building design process. In addition, it can provide exciting and informative diagrams for the calculation of embodied energy will make it easier to understand the building energy by building constructi...

In the design phase, EE can be associated with the usage of construction materials. On the other hand, the Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be an alternative approach in improving the effectiveness and efficiency material usage. The aim of this paper is to explain how to implement BIM in calculating and reducing the value of EE. The research methodology is a mix qualitative-quantitative method that conducted by using a case study and utilized BIM model of low-cost public apartment. The EE calculation is based on material properties of the BIM model and it also depends on the unit price analysis of each construction works. Furthermore, the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) method is used to calculate the EE of materials properties value. In order to find the best EE reduction value, a comparison analysis is conducted that it compared the use of conventiona...

BIM can be utilized to integrate the calculation of Embodied Energy (EE) Building Materials with the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) method. EE calculation could be easier for architects; hence, the architects can understand the impact of carbon emissions caused by construction activities during the design process. This paper aims to provide an overview of the use of BIM in calculating the EE value of the designed building material on the apartment project. Since the development and construction of flats and apartments, especially in Indonesia, are growing fast, this will give highly environmental impact if it is not properly controlled. The results showed that the BIM implementation in calculating the EE value could be done. Collaboration with other platforms can also be done to make the final calculation, a...

Housing construction in the community still use conventional construction systems that have many weaknesses, one of it weakness is the problem of delays in construction time that often occurs due to project managerial problems and poor HR capacity. One alternative for accelerating development is the usage of prefabrication method. Prefabrication method allows the creation of a system to speed up the house building construction is commonly called a prefabricated house. The prefabrication industry in Indonesia is less rapidly developing because its components tend to have rigid designs that make it unattractive, and the costs are relatively more expensive when compared to conventional house. There are four types that includes in prefabricated houses that have been known before, they are RISHA, RUMANAGA, DOMUS, and DUBLDOM. The four prefabricated houses have been as...

This paper aims to provide a house design proposal to solve the problem of densely populated urban settlements, which is carried out by designing exploration. The design method used in this study is an ecological architecture approach, which is adapted to the context of tropical climate, limited land, and the assumption of small family lifestyles with middle to lower economic conditions. The case study taken is a house on an area of 40 m2 with the hope that the size of this land represents a limited area of land in dense settlements in urban villages.

It is necessary to solve the problem to reduce the impact of CO2 emissions. One of the solution to reduce the impact of CO2 emission because of construction activity is using re-used material for building construction, such as re-used shipping container because the re-used material has low embodied energy. This paper has three purposes, and there are: explaining the application of re-used containers as building materials in the context of green architecture, explaining the application of building design using re-used containers as material, and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of used containers as building materials. Creative Hub ITSB as a case study owned by the campus of ITSB. The building construction consists of 20 units of a re-used container (20 feet size). The prefabrication construction uses for each steel material. Each component of the building assembled in the workshop, then it deliver...

Thus, Indonesia is facing a housing backlog up to millions of houses. Prefabricated construction method is one of the solutions that can accelerate housing development. This method has actually been used by some of traditional villages in Indonesia such as Kampong Naga, in West Java. Learning from its local wisdom, this research analyses the traditional prefabricated construction of Kampong Naga as an input for the development of housing development in Indonesia. Qualitative method is used through an observation to the house construction method in Kampong Naga. The result shows that traditional houses in Kampong Naga has a high level of prefabrication, and sustainable in material selection as well as in construction techniques. It is also found that there is an effort from the villagers to expand their prefabricated method to the community outside their village. Regarding to the research results, the local indigenous prefabricated system of Kampong Naga could be considered as a solution for the low cost housing development in Indonesia.

In this recent time, Indonesian government facing housing backlog until 13,5 million. To solve this problem, the government then focus on housing regulation by implemented One Million Housing program from 2015. In one hand, this regulation is effective to solve housing backlog but in term of environmental awareness, this massive development leads to increasing of carbon emission. The impact is due to the building material and construction process that far from eco-friendly. For this reason, a solution is needed to reduce the environmental impact that occurs. One of the solutions that can be done is to develop a low-carbon housing design by using alternative materials that are environmentally friendly. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one method to give a broad view regarding carbon emission of housing by integrative design modelling. This study then aims to analyze housi...
