Blockchain technology is evolving across the globe and is being looked upon as a definite part of... more Blockchain technology is evolving across the globe and is being looked upon as a definite part of the future. Blockchain is often associated with bitcoin and finance’s domain. But over the last decade, this backend technology to bitcoin has spread its association in almost all domains that we can think of. Further to this, smart contracts are making the blockchain ecosystem better. Other evolving technologies like Internet-of-things, Industrial Internet-of things, Cyber physical systems are also making their onset on the global platform. Smart buildings link Internet of-things connectivity, sensors and the cloud to remotely supervise and assure efficient heating- air conditioning, lighting and security systems etc to improve efficiency and overall sustainability. The global buildings sector over the next 40 years is expected to add 230 billion square meters of fresh construction, i.e., adding the equivalent of Paris every week. Blockchain has magnified itself beyond cryptocurrencies and has a universal appeal ranging across variety domains. Though still at inception stage, but a variegated options and choices have emerged on how blockchain can benefit and make the world better with its immutability, smart contracts and transparency features. Also we have evolving cyber physical systems (CPS), which are consolidations of new generation computing methods, physical and networking operations. In CPS, the embedded computing technologies and networks proctor and check the physical functions, with feedback loops where physical processes bear upon computing part and contrariwise. Blockchain has emerged as one of the finest and promising technologies in the last decade. Bitcoi... more Blockchain has emerged as one of the finest and promising technologies in the last decade. Bitcoin started the journey in 2008 and soon blockchain technology paved the way much beyond cryptocurrencies in form of smart contracts deployment, permissioned blockchains, hyperledger, ethereum and the list is endless, so to say with a multitude of variants evolving across. This expansion of the implementations has been across domains, hitherto unthought-of. One such domain with definite connects in future are the evolving smart cities across the countries. Smart city concept pullulates to step-up functional efficiency, share information with the users and better the citizen welfare enabled by information and communication technologies (ICT). The rapidly evolving growth of the smart cities thus has thrown multiple challenges to the widely used traditional way of ensuring seamless, secure, robust exchange of information between devices and entities in the smart city ecosystem. This paper builds upon the concepts of blockchain, smart cities, and InterPlanetary File System and further explores possibilities of realizing blockchain enabled smart cities on InterPlanetary File System architecture concluded by challenges ahead. The proposed architecture is simulated with results in a limited environment.

Blockchain and IoT, both are envisaged to bring in a plethora of advantages including better control, communication, transparency and more significantly realizing digital trust without any third party intervention. Both of these technologies have immense potential for exploitation in a smart nation concept. The advantages being realized are potent enough for definite implementation ahead but they come with an austere package of security concerns which if not taken care at the design stage can lead to pandemonium beyond control because of the billion plus connected things. Even at design stage, one can appreciate that it will be envisaging beyond control to close all security vulnerabilities and zero day's exploits of future. But then Blockchain is an inexpugnable solution to shut all these securities imperils. This paper builds upon the advantages of the union of these two evolving technology behemoths, their union and solutions vide Blockchain to the challenges in the way ahead.

CPS incorporates the kinetics of the physical operations with software and networking, delivering abstractions and simulating, conceptions, and analysis techniques for the complete system. This paper will discuss and propose the deployment of the CPS Smart building (CPS-SB) network based on an Ethereum private blockchain system mechanized by smart contracts and also discuss inherent challenges on a IoT Simulator (Cupcarbon). The proposal allows for operation of self sustaining CPS-SB based on smart contracts to realize predictive building controls.

Additionally, this admits clinical metrics and other vital parameters to include individuals or any population environmental, socio-economic and behavioral information apposite to health and wellness. While undergoing treatment, the patient’s data is in parallel collected by health care systems, intended to be further used for analytics to encourage, restitute and sustain good desirable health in the society. This lets in exertions to decide determinants of health as well as more direct health bettering actions. Over last two decades now, with the proliferation of information technology (IT) in this health care data, a new emerging threat is being realised with concerns of security, privacy, and ethical concerns of patient’s data [1]. The increasing collation and indexing of such health data of patients is a major component of digital health but at the same time is also being realised as a potent threat. This threat encompasses invading into privacies and life changing dynamics of patients attended to and in most of the times this is coordinated without the patient’s knowledge. This book chapter discusses possible blockchain applications in healthcare domain.

Other evolving technologies like Internet-of-things, Industrial Internet-of-things, Cyber physical systems are also making their onset on the global platform. Smart buildings link Internet-of-things connectivity, sensors and the cloud to remotely supervise and assure efficient heating- air conditioning, lighting and security systems etc to improve efficiency and overall sustainability. The global buildings sector over the next 40 years is expected to add 230 billion square meters of fresh construction, i.e., adding the equivalent of Paris every week. Thus integrating these technologies right at the onset, before they grow in isolation, is a coveted need today. This paper proposes a prototype to simulate architecture and discusses how blockchain enabled smart buildings can further expedite automation, security and transparency. For an apprehension purpose, the paper focuses on smart contracts enabled repairs and service in smart buildings.

The research in this field is still in parturient stages to say from perspective of the way cases and incidents are being handled on ground today.To bring out few key pertinent issues that immediately come to the fore include Distributed storage instead of the traditional Local storage which was easy to confiscate by the forensic team or we take the issue of shared storage in a multi user environment that may be hired on a time bound deal by the user from the CSP[1] or even if a particular user associated with data location is identified, secerning it from other users is never going to be easy owing to confidentiality and privacy issues!!!In this paper I discuss and build upon the challenges as available today to the forensics industry focused on growing Clouds.
