The research has aimed to explore the role of political talk shows in resolving the political conflict between PTI and PML-N, to assess their issues regarding their conflict, to examine the discussion on matters of common interest among them and to compare and analyze the discussion on matters of common interests and disputing issues between PTI and PML-N in television political talk shows. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research has used quantitative content analysis for collecting data and has concluded that the political talk shows have not been playing a positive role in resolving the political conflict between conflicting parties and moreover the role of political talk shows has been escalating in the process of political conflict resolution between PTI and PML-N. Purpose: The current research investigates the portrayal of the parent- children relationship in ... more Purpose: The current research investigates the portrayal of the parent- children relationship in prime-time entertainment television dramas of Pakistan. Relationship between parenting style and socio-economic status of the parents has been analyzed. Design/Methodology/Approach: Quantitative Content Analysis has been applied to measure the portrayal of parents in Drama serials. Top three entertainment channels ARY Digital, Hum TV and Geo TV were the targeted channels and parent-children based episodes were selected through purposive sampling. Out of 147 episodes, 308 scenes were selected. Scenes were coded on the predefined categories found in existing literature. Findings: The results showed that there was not much significant relationship found between socio-economic status of the parents and their parenting style. However, generation raised by parents with high socio-economic status showed submissive behavior towards their parents while the children raised by parents with low soci...

Digital media is believed to be transforming this world into a global village. In context of this... more Digital media is believed to be transforming this world into a global village. In context of this digital globalisation, the current study investigates impact of digital media on Female university students in Punjab, Pakistan with respect to religious, moral and cultural values. Based on Survey of 1157 respondents, the study focused public sector universities of the province under theoretical framework of Social Learning and Uses and Gratification theories. The study finds that digital media is a useful forum for students to get religious information with positive and negative impacts as well. It also has mixed effects on moral values of female students and also contributing as a significant source paving a way for cultural imperialism.

Purpose: Because national security is indeed a delicate subject in Pakistan, it is expected from ... more Purpose: Because national security is indeed a delicate subject in Pakistan, it is expected from the press to play a beneficial role in this respect. This study assessed the role of media in strengthening Pakistan’s image with respect to security. Design/Methodology/Approach The study is qualitative in nature, the researchers utilized survey method by employing close ended questionnaire as data collection tool. SPSS has been used for data analysis. Statistical analysis has been done using chi-square test. Findings: As per the findings of the study, the participants were found to have felt unsafe in Pakistan after hearing a piece of particular news, but they do think Pakistan is a safe country. Implications/Originality/Value: Media independence is a wonderful thing in a functioning democracy, but when it comes to sensitive topics like "national security", it is assumed that the media must only stick to their job of informing instead of dictating the processes.

This move stirred isolation and suppression in the people of the valley. The purpose of the study is to comprehend the peace and war framing of the Kashmir conflict after the revocation of the special status of the disputed territory in the Indian and Pakistani media. The study also attempts to explore the strategic relevance of Kashmir for neighboring China. Design/Methodology/Approach: Framing, Peace and War Journalism theories were used in this study. Quantitative content analysis method was used to analyze the peace and war framing of the J&K conflict in Dawn and Times of India. Considering the outbreak of Corona pandemic as a case study the article explores the dominant fra... more Considering the outbreak of Corona pandemic as a case study the article explores the dominant frames used in the coverage of COVID-19 pandemic by the Pakistani English e papers. The media framing is analyzed through qualitative inductive content analysis of the COVID-19 related news stories published in the e papers of Dawn and Express Tribune. Three broad themes emerged as a result of the inductive content analysis which included Scientific Development related to Pandemic; Scale of Pandemic; Social and Economic Impact of Pandemic. The results indicated that the coverage by the e papers was mostly aimed at educating the readers; difficult jargon related to medicine was mostly avoided and where the use of jargon was unavoidable it was properly explained. Most of the stories were developing in nature as the pandemic itself was unfolding at a very fast pace during the selected time frame. Purpose: This research aims to investigate the behavior of the citizenry residing in Provincial C... more Purpose: This research aims to investigate the behavior of the citizenry residing in Provincial Capital of Pakistan’s largest populated province of Punjab. Methodology: Based on quantitative approach, a questionnaire with closed ended questions was distributed between two divisions of society – educated and uneducated – to measure their behavior towards the pandemic. The researchers have made an attempt to measure the cognitive dissonance of the society towards COVID with this hypothetical assumption that uneducated people would bother least as compared to the educated class. Findings: The research concluded the educated class had adopted more precautionary measures as compared to the uneducated class. However, there was a slight negation in awareness level of the educated and uneducated class regarding the pandemic. Methodology: Quantitative analysis of the news items published in Dawn and The Nation (Pakistani media); Times of India and The Hindu (Indian media) indicated that the media framing of Kashmir conflict by the all four selected English dailies from India and Pakistan was heavily dominated by war framing. Selling ads may lead to sell content shaped in favor of the sponsor. This study has analyzed the influence of commercialization on editorial autonomy of broadcast journalists of Pakistan. A survey of senior journalists from top ten news channels was conducted to asnalyse perception of the professionals about the influence of commercialization on the content of news and current affairs. It is found that economic pressures restrain newsroom staff to make editorial decisions independently.

The supplementary aim was also formulated to gain more clear insight which is the role of viewers’ gender in viewer’s reactivity and perception of violence against women. Design/Methodology/Approach Quantitative method was used in the study. Sample was consisted of 500 viewers of the thirty dramas serials of Geo, ARY Digital and Hum TV which presented violence against women. The participants were drawn through purposive and snowball sampling strategies. The sample has 233 male participants and 267 female participants. Findings: The findings indicated that viewer’s reactivity of both enjoyment and empathy correlated with perception of violence against women.
