It enables people to gain critical perspectives and insights into the current issues that modern society is dealing with. Our forebears engaged in wars with Spanish, American, and Japanese colonizers to gain independence from their rule, as the Philippines is depicted in many textbooks. Even so, there needs to be more information about the Filipino's documented and known history to understand how the chain of events significantly impacted our lives. With all of this knowledge, it would seem that the idiom "tip of the iceberg" perfectly captures the history of the Philippines as it is presented in some books. Filipinos must endure more than just hardships, suffering, and manipulation to achieve true intellectual and economic independence. History records important events that have affected people, countries, and institutions. All this has an explanation of what the consequence is of all. It is the study of the past that happened in our world. Explained here the reason why our country is the way it is today. Our history is a big part of every aspect of human life. Stated in our history are the crucial events of our past. It is essential to study our history because this is where we will become aware of the present, which will help improve the next generation. As the saying goes, "The one who doesn't look back from the source will not arrive at the destination." This is to give broad thinking to the youth to be aware of our history that can be linked to the present. Many have created books on what is happened in our history. One of them is the work of Renato Constantino titled "The Philippines: The Past Revisited." He wrote this book with his family's help to show why the Philippines is the way it is today.
