Using the quantitative, cross-sectional survey design, data from 220 Registered Nurses were analysed. Results indicate that pay and job satisfaction have significant positive relationship with nurses’ affective commitment; pay has significant positive relationship with their job satisfaction but pay, job satisfaction and affective commitment have negative relationship with turnover intentions. Job satisfaction is of critical importance in gaining nurses’ affective commitment and enhancing retention. Pay is often considered as a hygiene factor in theories of motivation – meaning, even though pay decreases might cause dissatisfaction, pay increases would not increase satisfaction. This does not appear to be the case in Nigeria. These findings have implications for health human resource management in...

Responsible tourism (RT) practices are an outcome of these discussions and RT is a significant contributor to the “greenification” of economies in many countries. Green tourism promotes travel that supports natural and cultural aspirations, while also supporting protection of the destination community’s limited resources. Kerala, India, is a pioneer in implementing RT. The present study exploratively analyzes the RT initiatives at different phases, especially within the lens of sustainable responsible tourism initiatives for green tourism development. The research is descriptive in nature and is guided by the bottom line approach (TBL) for green economic development. The findings highlight the dynamics of challenges experienced in the different phases of RT implementation. Based on our analysis of the secondary data, the first phase implementation of RT was not very succes...

Data analysis was conducted using multivariate regressions, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and descriptive statistics to determine the influence of organizational factors on nurses’ job satisfaction, affective commitment and turnover intention. The results indicated that competence development practices, work-life balance policies and practices, perceived organizational support and the organization’s commitment to employees were positively correlated to job satisfaction and affective commitment but negatively correlated to registered nurses’ turnover intention. This study identified the importance of organizational factors in ...

In contrast to previous studies that solely focused on company-specific news sentiment, this research explores the impact of aggregate news sentiment. To draw conclusions, GARCH modeling, regression analysis, and dictionary-based sentiment analysis are employed. The findings, based on data from India, reveal that aggregate news sentiment has a short-lived influence, with notable effects stemming from the business and politics categories.

Contrary to the doomsday outlook of many, these services complement each other and therefore are inclusive. A growing trend, however, is the democratization of the use of fintech in an increasingly varied realms associated with personal finance. While those with higher incomes and more wealth tend to pay for the services of traditional advisors, clients with lower levels of income and wealth utilize robo-advisors more often. Continuous advancements in fintech provide a somewhat customized service but the robot’s lack of ability to manage certain types of investments and integrate intangible yet critical human factors into the assessments limit the effectiveness of these tools, at least currently.

The generic literature on internationalization of firms does not account for the ideological and institutional aspects specific to China and thus does not do justice to the way the Chinese Multinational Corporations (MNCs) have evolved. Unlike most Western MNCs, the Chinese MNCs keep their roots, in letter and spirit, as they expand internationally. That said, increasing global engagement means they somehow need to align and absorb globally recognized human resource management (HRM) practices. Differences in terms of industries, provincial regulations, national priorities as expressed in the communist party policies, etc., could also be observed. In this literature review, various key aspects of global human resource management that are applicable to t...

Systematic literature review. Transportation-as-a-Service is still in its infancy when it comes to commercial trucking. The concurrent developments in the autonomous vehicle technologies opens up additional opportunities for disruptive transformations. The scholarly literature is lagging behind trade reports and the current review is an attempt to claim this space. New players might take birth to cater to the emerging needs and opportunities. There are losers and gainers among the existing players. Also, overall, these changes will contribute to greater sustainability in transportation. Faculty support is recognized as critical for the success of the internationalization mission. However, faculty motivation and commitment are often taken for granted; administrators direct most of their attention to tackling partnership issues and managing the external environment. This paper unravels certain critical issues associated with faculty support for internationalization in a small private university located in a US jurisdiction area. Data show that absence of an institutional structure for effective organizational communication would result in imperfect information about internationalization being circulated. Also, incentives like sabbaticals and paid leaves will help improve faculty motivation and thereby garner their support.

Archetypes are the forms which the instincts assume to be constituting objects. These universal mental images set the patterns of behavior for our interaction with the world. The concept of archetypes can explain some of consumers' love for their favorite brands and distaste for certain others. The present study conducted in Iran, an emerging economy, explores if the archetype model could be used to build better brand image and bonding with consumers. A full-fledged brand is built around the Demeter archetype and the same is deployed by a real business enterprise.

More recent evidence from the Caribbean tourism promotional practice, however, indicates the realization in the practitioner community that developing a distinct brand equity is critical for success. This paper aims to identify and measure elements of brand equity for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, compare the brand equity of the two destinations, and provide branding recommendations. In this study, these destinations were subjected to a customer-based brand equity for tourism destinations (CBBETD) model comprising the five dimensions of brand equity – i.e., social image, price/ value, trustworthiness, identification/attachment, and brand performance. The CBBETD scores were then compared in order to understand better the differences in brand equity between these two similarly placed US territories in the Caribbean.

Thus, it is important to analyze ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of these professionals. In particular, what factors contribute to their job satisfaction, quality of life, and overall success? These questions are partially answered in this study using the framework of appreciative inquiry to construct a comprehensive sketch of the day-today lives of long-distance truckers. While other aspects of the supply chain have been studied extensively, relatively less research has been directed toward understanding the nuances of the trucking way of life. The current paper offers some partial solutions, research directions, and managerial guidance.

Because of widely differing and sometimes incompatible legislations around the world related to AR, there is considerable confusion across national borders. Within Europe, Greece seems to be in a comparatively favorable position because of lower restrictions and the availability of decent quality specialized medical facilities. This research is a market study with a business perspective and explores the emerging landscape of reproductive tourism (RT) in Greece. Methods: The research adopted mixed methods. First, open-ended questions were used to interview foreign medical tourists and staff in various AR clinics. Based on the insights from these interviews and guided by the extent literature, a survey instrument was prepared and administered among 130 patients. Results: Findings indicate that Greece still lack policies that nurture transparency and dynamic response to technological changes in AR. Also, the travel industry lack specialists who can effectively liaison with clinics, who understand the availability of AR technologies, regulations, and the unique needs of AR tourists. Conclusions: Globally, the need for assisted reproduction has tremendously increased; yet, the supply of facilities is lagging far behind. There is a unique advantage for clinics located in touristic locations in countries that offer cheaper treatment options. Given the shape of its debt-ridden economy, Greece needs foreign exchange inflows and gaining first mover advantage in reproductive tourism is probably an important way to achieve this. This research draws up a reproductive tourism strategy for Greece.

The connection between university and universalism is self-evident. However, internationalisation as an operational expansion of particular universities beyond national boundaries is a relatively new phenomenon. This case presents some of the leadership challenges associated with the internationalisation of a medium scale teaching oriented state university located in the West Coast, USA. For this university, the priority for internationalisation has moved from the fringes to the very core, bringing with this a range of challenges and opportunities. The senior administration of the Case University needs to reinforce its leadership intent and make certain key strategic policy decisions, if the internationalisation effort is to sustain and grow.
