It is located within the borders of both Mardin and Diyarbakir provinces in terms of management.
Lithological structure is very important on geomorphological development. In this respect, lithology consists of different units outcropping from Mesozoic (Maastrichtian-Paleocene) to Quaternary. When the risk of living fault in the Savur Stream Basin is examined, it is seen that there is no active fault line to the south of the basin within the borders of Mardin province. However, there is a short distance active fault line to the northwest of the basin. The biggest factor affecting the seismicity of the basin is the Eastern Anatolian Fault Zone. The fact that the basin is located in the immediate vicinity of this fault fund is the most important factor that increases the earthquake risk from south to north.
When the climate characteristics of the research area are examined, it is seen that the Savur Stream Basin is dominated by semi-humid, medium temperature (Mesothermal), water deficiency in summer and very strong continental climate.
When we examine the basin from the hydrographic point of view, it is seen that the most important river is the Savur stream and its side branches.
Soil characteristics are mostly formed by clusters of soil and climate; red brown soils and brown forest soils, and alluvial and colluvial soils from azonal soils.
When the natural vegetation is examined, it is seen that species belonging to forest formation, anthropogenic steppe and grass formations are distributed. Natural environment conditions in the research area have a controlling effect on human activities. Agriculture and animal husbandry are the leading economic activities in the basin.
