Objective: To compare the yield and relative cost of identifying a case of tuberculosis (TB) using the three WHO-recommended algorithms (WHO2b, symptom inquiry only; WHO2d, chest X-ray [CXR] after a positive symptom inquiry; WHO3b, CXR only) and the Zimbabwe active case finding (ZimACF) algorithm (symptom inquiry plus CXR) to everyone. Design: Cross-sectional study using data from the ZimACF project. Results: A total of 38 574 people were screened from April to December 2017; 488 (1.3%) were diagnosed with TB using the ZimACF algorithm. Fewer TB cases would have been diagnosed with the WHO-recommended algorithms. This ranged from 7% fewer (34 cases) with WHO3b, 18% fewer (88 cases) with WHO2b and 25% fewer (122 cases) with WHO2d. The need for CXR ranged from 36% (WHO2d) to 100% (WHO3b). The need for bacteriological confirmation ranged from 7% (WHO2d) to 40% (ZimACF). The relative cost per case of TB diagnosed ranged from US$180 with WHO3b to US$565 for the ZimACF algorithm. Conclusion: The ZimACF algorithm had the highest case yield, but at a much higher cost per case than the WHO algorithms. It is possible to switch to algorithm WHO3b, but the trade-off between cost and yield needs to be reviewed by the Zimbabwean National TB Programme.

This qualitative study focused on the social and psychological challenges affecting the reintegration of these children. The study collected data from 60 participants comprising sexually exploited children, caregivers and managers working in rehabilitation institutions, among other stakeholders involved in the reintegration process. Data were analysed using thematic procedures and results show that pervasive stigma and discrimination, enduring trauma and psychological distress, lack of education, and economic hardships were hindering the reintegration efforts in Zimbabwe. Furthermore, the study found that cultural norms and beliefs that condone sexual exploitation exacerbate the problem, particularly affecting girls and young women. The enduring trauma and psychological distress experienced by these children result in emotional scars, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and feelings of shame and guilt. Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach involving education, awareness-raising, advocacy, and trauma-informed care. Access to mental health services and comprehensive psychosocial support is crucial for healing and recovery. Therefore, a holistic approach encompassing physical, social, and emotional well-being, along with support networks, is essential for successful reintegration.

Using a qualitative research methodology, the study examined the impact of Nyaradzo Life Assurance (Pvt) Ltd Company's CSR initiatives on recipient communities and individuals, and how these initiatives influenced CL. Data were collected from 60 participants using interviews and focus groups. The study found that Nyaradzo's CSR initiatives, including community development projects, education support to vulnerable groups, and environmental sustainability programs, were perceived positively by participants who were also the company's clients. The tree donation initiative, in particular, created a long-lasting emotional connection between clients and Nyaradzo, and this initiative was contributing towards the development of CL shown by the clients. The study also found that CSR initiatives that aligned with the customer's values and expectations, as determined by their contextual realities, were the ones that were more likely to influenced CL. Overall, the study highlighted the importance of CSR in developing CL in the funeral assurance industry in Zimbabwe, and the need for companies not only to align their CSR initiatives with the values and expectations of their clients but also to involve their clients in some their CSR initiatives.

Phenomenology was used as the research approach to capture the lived experiences of participants from childcare institutions and sexually exploited children. The study was conducted in four research sites in Harare, Kadoma, and Mutare, and data were collected from 58 participants through interviews and focus group discussions. Purposive sampling was used to select key informants, and thematic data analysis procedures were employed to analyse the data. The study found that sexual exploitation was a prevalent issue in Zimbabwe, and victims of exploitation faced various challenges such as stigma, inadequate support, feelings of isolation, shame, fear, and other psychosocial problems. While Zimbabwe had several policies and guidelines related to the protection of children and rehabilitation and reintegration services, these policies were not comprehensive enough to standardise the services offered by rehabilitation centres. There was a lack of a specific policy to guide reintegration practices in Zimbabwe. The study concluded that there was a need to strengthen the reintegration framework in Zimbabwe by adopting an all-stakeholder approach to enhance the success of the reintegration practice. This would involve fostering collaboration and coordination among stakeholders involved in the reintegration process, increasing funding for reintegration services, and developing comprehensive policies and guidelines that address the specific needs and circumstances of sexually exploited children in Zimbabwe. Such measures would go a long way in supporting the successful recovery and reintegration of sexually exploited children into their families and communities.

The qualitative phenomenological approach focused on the manufacturing and service sub-sectors that informed the analysis. The study used purposive sampling to select a sample of 10 participants, five business managers and five ICT experts. In-depth interviews with chosen ICT experts from business organisations in Harare, Zimbabwe, were conducted to gather qualitative data. The study's findings were from using within-case and cross-case qualitative data analysis. Key results from the study indicate that ICT support for management talent is perceived to impact business performance and competitive advantage positively. ICT support for core competencies gives businesses a competitive advantage that positively impacts operational performance. When ICT investments combine with ICT management skills, a company's value maximises. For ICT-enabled core competencies to influence firm performance, firms need complementary managerial and strategic capabilities. This study is distinctive because it addresses the dynamic organisational capabilities and resource-based perspective as the base theories. The methodology goes against the innovation adoption theories of comparable earlier studies on ICT acceptability. Thus, this study contributes to the growing body of ICT literature by demonstrating that ICT-enabled core competencies are insufficient to establish and maintain a competitive advantage and singularly influence firm performance. It made it even more essential for a firm to consider how to meet better customer needs and capture value by having a well-thought-out ICT-embedded business model, business strategy, and innovation alignment.

These security concerns render SADC ineffective with regards to the maintenance of regional peace and security. This qualitative study analysed the efficacy of SADC in relation to the maintenance of regional peace and security. The analysis was based on the Constructive Peace Theory (CPT) and the Sustainable Regional Peace and Security Framework (SRPSF) which was developed by this researcher. Interviews and documentary analysis were used to gather data from 15 participants who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Results show that leadership discord, weak regional institutions, lack of funding and ideological crisis were the key factors that render SADC's bid to maintain regional peace and security ineffective. The study recommended the construction of supranational regional institutions and the establishment of self-reliance funding models to bankroll essential regional peace and security initiatives.
