In this study, the quadratic model was adopted using the design expert software's least squares method algorithm to estimate the unknown model parameters. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to assess the model representing the flexural strength goodness of fit. The variance of the model term is compared to the residual variance using the F-value. Statistical analysis was used to verify the accuracy of the quadratic model. The outcome of the results showed that the Ri 2 value was in the range 0.0000 to 0.1636. Besides, the model terms were significant except X5, X1X5, X2X3, X2X4, X1 2 , X2 2 , and X5 2 indicating that these terms had no significant influence on the flexural strength of the composite PVC. Additionally, the model did not exhibit a lack of fit (p=0.5153) and had a very small p-value (p < 0.0001). The model predictions and the experimental data fit each other exceptionally well.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) consideration in Nigeria appears to be at it... more Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) consideration in Nigeria appears to be at its infantry level and far from world best practices. Several factors are associated with OSHA, Incidentally the major problem is that the individual role and collective interplay among these factors are not completely implied. This study therefore seeks to use Kendall's Coefficient of Concordance (KCC) to rank 52 identified variables and successively apply Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to ascertain the degree of interaction among these variables. The essence of this study is to use the individual and collective role of these factors for a re-contextualization of OSHA portable concept and subsequently forge a framework for developing a normative safety culture in Nigeria. KCC was used to rank 52 identified variables in descending order of importance. Afterwards, the PCA was used to analyse a set of questionnaires crafted with the 52 variables and administered to knowledgeable respondents in the industry. Statistical software adopted gave several outputs which include: screeplot, eigenvalues, descriptive statistic, eigenvector, unrotated factor loading, case-wise factor scores, correlation matrix, varimax rotated factor loadings, explained variance, factor plot, inter alia. Finally, factor interpretation was rendered. Our result established five important factors which were creatively labelled "Principal Factor'', 'Accident Management", ''Systematization'', '' Safety Ground Rules'' and "Miscellany.'' These five factors form a framework for establishing a normative safety work culture for any organization. Taken together, the models employed have provided enlightenment on the appearance of current situation of the work world.

the oil and gas industry. This study seeks to unravel the hidden details enwrapped in the safety
data which enable the development of a model that would be effective in predicting future
occurrence of industrial accidents. The purpose of this study is to spotlight the epidemiological
impact of industrial accidents which claim lives, maim personnel and lower productivity through
loss of man-hours. The major strategy adopted consists of the examination of a 10-year unified
industrial accident recorded from 2007 to 2016 in the oil and gas sector of the Niger Delta of
Nigeria. The Markov Chain model was applied to determine how workers habituate among
different positions in the company before getting entrapped in any of the absorbing states. The
industrial accident records are examined for embedded Markov properties, namely: stochastic
regularity, absorbing behavior and the long-run distribution amongst the various states. The
statistical computations were carried out with the aid of Matlab (R2017a) software. The
historical Health Safety and Environment (HSE) statistical data were found to have an absorbing
chain property. Thirteen (13) transition states were defined and named as; fatality, medical
treatment, first aid cases, Lost time injury frequency, restricted work cases, first aid case, near
miss, lost time injury, environmental incident, fire incident, unsafe acts, unsafe condition and
number of attendance of clinic. The result from the study also revealed that staff makes between
17-18 habituations before being trapped in an absorbing state. Remarkably, 99% of workers in
the organization had severe medical treatment cases (MTCs) as a result of work-related
occupational illness and injury. The implication of the study is that the safety policy outlook of
this company should be reorganized to reduce its lost workdays due to minor injury and illness.

These events often cause huge damages to the environment, facilities, fatalities and disabilities for people. Therefore, it is important to analyse the numerous variables associated with industrial accident considerations and the inter play among these variables. This paper adopts a novel combination of two statistical methods to analyse the various hazards factors in the most important sector of the economy. In this analysis, critical hazards variables were identified and classified based on HSE (Health Safety and Environment) standards. Kendall's Coefficient of Concordance (KCC) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were employed to analyse the set of data generated from respondents and were summarized into a number of factors that promotes occupational safety and health in industries. KCC was used to analyze data matrix generated by thirteen Judges who were requested to rank the thirty two identified hazards variables in merit order of sequentiality scaled with 5-point Rensis Likert's attitudinal scale and administered to 22 respondents where only 13 were retrieved. The PCA aided by StatistiXL software package was proficient to achieving parsimony in factor reduction from thirty-two variables to mere five factors. The results obtained by KCC suggested that the judges ranking of the thirty two variables were consistent with index of concordance computed as W = 0.958. The result by PCA indicates that five factors creatively labelled: Work World Culture, Ground Rule Matters, Safety Considerations, Work Condition and Perception of Safety represent the principal factors that influence the industrial safety. This study unwrapped the deeper meanings associated with multi-dimensional factors in industrial safety.

As a result of the need to comply with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on hand washing to reduce the risk of infection transmission, an automated hand washing system with an installed water recycling device was developed. The integration of recycling water ensures effective energy resource management and reduces environmental pollution. The conceptual architectural design of the automated hand washing machine was established using AutoCAD software and the Arduino microcontroller panel. The operation of the hand washing systems consists of assembling relevant sensors to automate the liquid soap, water, hand dryer and sanitiser dispenser. A filtration reactor was used to convert the wastewater to clean water. The clean water is then pumped to the overhead tank by a submersible pump inside the lower tank for reuse. The water treatment was achieved by adding 5g of aqueous and into 1000g of used water. The water samples were then analysed in the laboratory to ascertain their purity, and results were obtained. The purification of the recycled water ranges from 82% to 83%, and the salvage volume of the recovered clean water is 80%. The microcontroller was successful in coordinating the various activities of the automated system. The automatic washing machine will reduce water waste, eliminate environmental pollution and curb disease transmission.

Conclusively, the safety policy outlook in the industrial sector is limited to its prevalent economy, hence the need for a recontextualisation of OSHA safety rules to reduce accident occurrence in the Oil and Gas sector in Nigeria.
