Academic libraries play crucial role in enhancing teaching and research missions of their parent ... more Academic libraries play crucial role in enhancing teaching and research missions of their parent institutions. This paper shares findings of the study which investigated awareness and use of library resources. The main aim of this research study is to identify the use and usage of resources and services provided by the library. A well structured questionnaire was prepared on Google Forms to collect the data from users of six colleges from Goa. Total 360 questionnaires were sent to 60 students of each college under study and 300 filled questionnaires were received from the respondents. The study has revealed that highest percentage of users (91.33%) prefer to visit the library to issue books. The major problem faced by users as they have mentioned in the study is inadequate resources in the library. Majority of the users (68.67%) are satisfied with library resources which is the positive sign for libraries functioning in Goa. This study recommended promotion and marketing of library ...

The novel Coronovirus pandemic has made us to use the digital resources due to closure of college... more The novel Coronovirus pandemic has made us to use the digital resources due to closure of colleges across the globe. Librarians and users all over the world have had to adjust to new ways of work and life. The study explores the e-resources provided by N-LIST in the form of ejournals and e-books from various reputed publishers included in the consortium. The data has been gathered from the library users (students, research scholars and the faculty) of the academic colleges across Goa through online Google form. From the study, it was found that N-LIST eresources have been playing a crucial role in satisfying the information needs of the users throughout the Covid-19 pandemic era. The study shows that N-LIST e-resources has significantly contributed to the demands of the college library users as the vast collection of eresources can be accessed from anywhere and at any time through remote access. This paper tries to shed light on the importance of having N-LIST e-resources, the crucial role played during the pandemic era in fulfilling the information needs of the users and the satisfaction level of the users. The study also made it very clear that the users are very satisfied with the e-resources provided under N-LIST consortium.

However, the awareness about open source information amongst faculty and students is not known. The objective of this study is to explore the awareness and use of open access resources (OARs) by Faculty and students of Ponda Education Society's (PES's) colleges. A questionnaire-based survey method has been used in this research. A questionnaire was designed in Google Forms and was sent to 400 library users. A total of 278 (69.5%) library users filled in the form. The findings shows that 110 (39.6%) of respondents are not aware of the OARs and 132 (48.5%) of respondents were not aware of the COVID 19 open access resources provided by publishers and vendors during the COVID-19 crisis. Study recommends training on OARs to overcome the problems faced by library users in using OARs. The study also suggests librarians to increase awareness of OARs through information literacy sessions through orientation sessions.

The Corona virus pandemic has dramatically remodeled and transformed the education sector into a ... more The Corona virus pandemic has dramatically remodeled and transformed the education sector into a digital learning hub due to the closure of educational institutions globally. Possessing adequate digital literacy skills and embracing web-based techniques are the only means to ensure continuity in the process of teaching and learning. The purpose of this paper is to show the positive influence of Covid-19 pandemic in molding librarians into tech savvy library professionals in enhancing their digital knowledge and in upliftment of their IT skills. A structured online questionnaire using Google Forms was used to collect data from the librarians working in academic colleges across Goa. From the study it was found that Covid-19 pandemic period has played a positive role in uplifting the digital and technical knowledge of the library professionals, it has widened the use of various social media platforms in disseminating information to the patrons. The study highlighted that 75% of the librarians acquired digital literacy skills by taking part in the webinars on various topics. This paper also throws light on the importance of having knowledge of E-databases and E-resources in satisfying the needs of the users in the Covid-19 pandemic period.
