The spacing of this quartet suggested that J 1 2 was about 10 Ha and Jl3 about 17.2 Hz, which values were used m original input in the LAOCOON computer program. Subsequently, a 220-MHz spectrum of diallylmercury obtained on a Varian Associates HR-220 spectrometer gave essentially first-order resonances of H-2 and H-3 which gave J12 and Jla &s 16.6 and 9.5 Hz, respectively.
