This paper examines the attitude of mega corporations towards its fulfilment of corporate social ... more This paper examines the attitude of mega corporations towards its fulfilment of corporate social responsibilities to host communities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It specifically examines the philanthropic and hypocritical dispositions of these firms. A review of literature and industry practice found stakeholders gross nonchalance in the implementation of corporate social responsibilities in host communities. In particular, the study found firms unwillingness to take advantage of the provision of social responsibility expenditure as allowable deductible tax allowance in Nigeria's tax laws. Finally, the study found government culpable of negligence in the development of host communities. Contingent upon the developmental effects of corporate social responsibilities activities, this paper recommends that it is expedient for all stakeholders to have a rethink about the attitude of mega corporations towards its corporate social responsibilities with the intent of actualising their developmental roles in the host communities.

This paper sought to ascertain the roles of organizational factors on life insurance sales personnel performance in Nigeria's marketplace. This study specifically examines the influence of selection and recruitment, compensation, training, and sales territory on life insurance sales personnel performance. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. The population of study are the entire life insurance sales personnel in the twenty (20) quoted firms in Nigeria. However, the accessible population are the sales personnel in the three (3) top most listed firms with headquarter in Lagos state. Two hundred and fifty (250) copies of a structured questionnaire was administered to sales managers, unit managers and sales executives of AIICO, Leadway Assurance and FBN life. The study found that all the independent variables exhibit significant relationship with sales personnel performance. Specifically, employee compensation exert the strongest influence on sales person's performance. Closely following is sales territory while selection and recruitment exert the least influence on sales force performance. This study conclude that the independent variables exhibit positive and significant influence on life insurance sales personnel performance. The paper recommend among others that operational managers desirous of outstanding marketplace performance should hire only high caliber employees, thoroughly train, adequately and competitively compensate and equip the sales force with sufficient information that would enable them thrive in their assigned sales territories.

Hotels as agents of economic transformation are often embroiled in competition. With the emergenc... more Hotels as agents of economic transformation are often embroiled in competition. With the emergence of the internet, majority of these hotels now adopt digital marketing platform to contend with competition. The study sought to examine the contributions of digital marketing practices to the economic sustainability of hotels in Bayelsa state. This paper is specifically posed to ascertain the extent of online advertising in ensuring economic sustainability, to examine the influence of email marketing in enhancing economic sustainability and to explore the implication of adopting social media for marketing purposes on the economic sustainability of hotels. The population of study are the entire hotels in Bayelsa state while the assessable population are the ten topmost rated hotels with websites. The cross sectional survey design was employed in this study. Sixty (60) copies of questionnaire were purposefully selfadministered on the respondents in their various hotels. From the 60 copies of questionnaire administered, 54 were found usable. This represents about 85% return rate. The collated data were analysed with mean and standard deviation while the formulated hypotheses were tested with the aid of STATA 15 using ordinary least square regression at 0.05 level of significance. The findings shows that all the forms of digital marketing exert positive and significant influence on economic sustainability of hotels. This paper conclude that hotels engagement of digital marketing contribute significantly to its economic sustainability. In the light of foregoing, this paper recommend among others that hotels develop interactive websites and continuously upgrade it to become user friendly.

These interactions create impressions in the minds of the parties which to some extent define patronage outcome. For a meaningful outcome, an understanding of the creators of satisfactory patronage is germane. This study investigates the influence of customers’ encounters in defining the outcome of hotel patronage. This study adopted a cross-sectional design using a structured questionnaire survey of guests of 3 star and above rated hotels in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state Nigeria .Four hundred copies of questionnaire were distributed in ten strategically selected hotels, and 290 copies were found useful. This represents about 73% response rate . The SPSS 23.0 statistical software package were used for data analysis. Against this background, the purpose of this study is to examine the influence of food quality, customers’ service, physical environment and security on customers’ intention to revisit a restaurant. The study also sought to ascertain the extent of gender difference in customers revisit intention. A survey research design and convenience sampling method was adopted in this study. Questionnaires were distributed to 350 patrons of fast food restaurants in Yenagoa metropolis Bayelsa state Nigeria. The descriptive analysis of the respondent shows that male are the dominant patrons of fast food restaurants. This paper sought to identify incidence of Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) service failures and e... more This paper sought to identify incidence of Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) service failures and evaluated customers coping strategies. Primary data were collected with structured questionnaire from 200 respondents. Convenience sampling technique was adopted for sample collection. The collected data were analyzed with mean and standard deviation. The result shows that ATM inability to issue receipt was considered the highest indicator of service failure while 20% of the respondents choose not to take any action, 46% took only private action and 24% of the respondents applied a combination of these strategic options in dealing with ATM service failures. This paper therefore recommends that customers need adequate information about their rights and should appropriately demand for it, banks management should be alive to their responsibilities of delivery quality services while banks regulatory agencies should not hesitate to impose penalties on any erring bank that continually deliver substandard services to her customers.

It is a truism that culture affects management hence the need for cross cultural management studies. This paper examines cross cultural aspects of management in different cultures including Africa culture. We have come to accept that there is need to adequately manage cultural diversity of workforce. Management in Africa should incorporate African culture in conjunction with western management best practices and models in order to achieve desirable results.
