Studies prove a positive relationship between mobbing in the workplace and the level of mental di... more Studies prove a positive relationship between mobbing in the workplace and the level of mental disorders. In the present research, it was decided to test whether gender is a moderator of the relationships under consideration. It is well known that women and men experience differences in the general clinical manifestations of certain disorders such as depression, anxiety and addiction. Furthermore, women are more likely to experience mobbing than men. Therefore, it was decided to test whether gender could be a moderator of the relationship between workplace harassment and the level of mental disorders. participants and procedure Accordingly, a survey was conducted with 220 people aged 22-65 years employed in various Polish workplaces with at least one year of work experience, including 108 women and 112 men, using tools with verified psychometric properties. These were the Negative Action Questionnaire (NAQ) and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). results The analyses conducted showed that gender significantly alters the relationship between mobbing and general mental health, levels of somatic disorders, anxiety and insomnia, and symptoms of depression. In terms of psychological wellbeing, men, compared to women, have a much stronger reaction to harassment, both of a personal nature and directly aimed at the work sphere. conclusions The aforementioned relationships may find practical application in the development of effective methods for the prevention and treatment of the effects of workplace harassment.

The reconstruction of a technique leads to prepare a new one with the repe-tition of all stages and procedures of the original instrument. The aim of this article is the reconstruction of a technique to assess psychological gender. The last version of the inventory named the Scale of Masculinity and Femininity (SM&F), counting 20 items, was completed by the sample of 207 individuals (105 men and 102 women). The reli-ability measures (test-retest reliability, Cronbach’s alfa) and validity measures (con-struct, concurrent and factor analysis both confirmatory and exploratory as well) con-firmed that the Scale of Masculinity and Femininity possesses good psychometric properties and can be used to estimate masculinity, femininity and types of gender in accordance to S. The 1960’s view of gender role orientation held that masculinity and femininity were at opposite ... more The 1960’s view of gender role orientation held that masculinity and femininity were at opposite ends of the same continuum. Bem challenged this concept by suggesting that masculinity and femininity were actually separate continuums, allowing individuals to endorse both characteristics. Bem described four categories of gender: sex-typed individuals, androgynous individuals, undifferentiated individuals and cross-sex-typed individuals. The authoress of this article conducted researches, delivering five techniques: IPP by Kuczyńska, NEO-FFI by Costa & McCrae, PTS by Strelau & Zawadzki, SD by Ray and MSS by Merrill & Reid to the group of 145 persons. The group of 72 individuals, 36 trainers and 36 non-trainers completed the battery of the following questionnaires: Social Competences Questionnaire, Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, Psychological Gender Questionnaire, NEO-FFI and Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale. The results reveal that being a trainer can be predicted considering neuroticism, conscientiousness, emotional intelligence and general level of social competences

Most analyses are conducted with reference to biological sex. Psychological gender distinguishes the construct of gender differences. The study involved 400 people (200 women and 200 men) who were married, economically active and had at least one child. The respondents completed the Marital Communication Questionnaire (KKM), the Masculinity and Femininity Scale (SMiK) and the Relationship Satisfaction Scale. The results obtained indicate a differential role of gender schemas in terms of preferred conversational styles. Psychological gender does not affect relationship satisfaction. Furthermore, the gender patterns evident in the four psychological gender types differentiate the relationship of spouses' communication with their ratings of relationship satisfaction. The concept is defined with reference to Urban's concept of creativity, the personality conditions are described using Costa and McCrae's five-factor model of personality, while the overview of the environmental conditions is based on Kolb's organisational climate approach. 224 programmers (110 women and 114 men) participated in the study and were asked to complete the following research tools with validated psychometric properties: Urban and Jellen's Test for Creative Thinking - Drawing Performance, Costa and McCrae's NEO-FFI Personality Inventory, and Kolb's Organisational Climate Questionnaire. It turns out from the Eurostat data that Poland holds the third place in Europe in terms of the n... more It turns out from the Eurostat data that Poland holds the third place in Europe in terms of the number of the so called portfolio workers, i.e. persons who work for more than one employer. Yet, it is a mistake to claim that portfolio working is a new phenomenon in our country. As early as in the 30. of the 20th century, almost 60% of professional workers earned their living additionally from farming. Nevertheless, the contemporary portfolio working is changing its character. Portfolio workers are usually persons with high professional experience and unique qualifications. They include for example physicians, nurses, teachers, academic teachers, lawyers, translators, journalists. What are their motives to search for an additional job? The aim of the research was to check whether there is a relationship between the perception of th... more The aim of the research was to check whether there is a relationship between the perception of the workplace by the employee as attractive and the level of job satisfaction experienced by him/her. These analyzes are part of the search for environmental conditions of job satisfaction. The study group consisted of 100 offi ce employees were asked to complete three questionnaires: Job Description Questionnaire by Neuberger and Allerbeck, Job Affect Scale by Brief, Burke, George, Robinson and Webster, and authors' tool to measure the physical assessment of attractiveness the workplace. The results obtained confi rm that the attractiveness of the workplace together with the perception of individual elements of space arrangement are related to job satisfaction, both in the emotional and cognitive dimensions. Thus, the results can be a premise to be used by the employer in the process of building an employer branding as inside-out as well as outside-in.

The Bem Sex Role Inventory, the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the Life Orientation Scale-Revised, the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Personal Competence Scale were completed by 308 employees of a city transport company (123 females and 185 males). Objectives: This work investigates different cognitive aspects of job satisfaction (co-workers, s... more Objectives: This work investigates different cognitive aspects of job satisfaction (co-workers, supervisor, job content, working facilities, organization and management, opportunities for development, income), positive and negative affect at work and their relations to gender role orientation of women occupying managerial and non-managerial positions. Materials and methods: The sample of 122 women (60 managers and 62 non-managers) completed a battery of instruments such as: the Bem Sex Role Inventory, the Job Description Inventory by Neuberger and Allerbeck and the Job Affect Scale by Brief et al. Results: Most women managers represented androgynous and masculine types, while women non-managers belonged to androgynous and feminine types. Moreover, women with various degrees of sex-typing showed positive and negative affect at work. The most satisfied with income were masculine women managers, the least-feminine women non-managers. Conclusions: These results may be applied in designing of motivational instruments to enhance job effectiveness and to eliminate unproductive behaviours such as absenteeism, high staff turnover.

A multidimensional assessment was performed of the following selection tools: interview, application forms, personal questionnaires, psychological testing, knowledge tests, work samples, Assessment Centre (AC) and candidate screening. The study included 193 people aged between 20 and 55 years. Of these, 84 were HR professionals, and 109 were candidates for positions. The subjects assessed the personnel selection methods using a proprietary tool based on semantic differential. The obtained results indicate that the candidates and recruiters differed in their assessment of the methods. The recruiters considered the AC, personal questionnaire, psychological tests and knowledge tests as the most effective, followed by work samples and candidate screening, with the application forms and interview as the l...
