A work-family conflict is a form of inter-role conflict in which the demands of one function at w... more A work-family conflict is a form of inter-role conflict in which the demands of one function at work and another at home are conflicted in some ways. Conflict arises whenever work and family life overlap. Work-family conflict is significant for both businesses and individuals since it is linked to undesirable results. The conflict between work and family life, for example, is linked to higher absenteeism, higher labor force turnover, lower performance, and poor physical and mental health. In this respect, the current study aims to explore the impact of work-family conflict on hotel employees' retention in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hotels (KSA). The study used the analytical method to achieve the objectives of the research, the study was conducted on some workers in KSA hotels, the study was used a simple random sample via an electronic link questionnaire to collect primary data from 131 individuals. The study was used SPSS V.23 to test the والفهادق السياحة كلية جملة-عدد 11-يونيو 7277 م correlation between work-family conflict and employees' retention in the selected sample. The results assured that there is a statistically significant negative impact of work-family conflict on hotel employees' retention in KSA hotels. The study provides a set of recommendations for hotel managers to increase their employees' retention.

Nowadays, there is a shortage of females with a higher level of education. Moreover, the number o... more Nowadays, there is a shortage of females with a higher level of education. Moreover, the number of female students begins to decrease as the grade level of education rises. As a result, females are still underrepresented in higher education, both as students and faculty members. Hotel education institutions are the main source of supplying qualified graduates in response to the growing demand of the industry. Recently, it has been noticed that the number of female students enrolled in the hotel management department has decreased in most Egyptian governmental universities. This study aims to explore the main factors that affect the low enrollment of female students in the hotel department in the Egyptian governmental universities. The study developed a measure of six main factors that may influence female students' choice to join the hotel management department. Only five universities were selected out of ten governmental Egyptian universities that have the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management. Online surveys were the best way to reach students easily, maintain social distancing and follow preventive measures against COVID-19. A scale of 19items was developed, consisting of 6 dimensions represent the factors affecting the lack of female students' enrollment in the hotel department at the level of Egyptian tourism and hotel colleges. The results indicated that the job income dimension was the most influential factor among the universities' sample. While the job opportunities factor came in second place, followed by Socio-culture, Department image, Parental desires, and then Admission & learning was the least influencing factor.

Hotel employees need to feel job security in a way to maintain their life and their families as w... more Hotel employees need to feel job security in a way to maintain their life and their families as well. In this respect, the current study focuses on job insecurity among hotel employees and how it can affect negatively or positively job engagement and turnover intention in Egyptian and Saudi Arabian hotels. In addition, the study investigates the correlation between job insecurity and job engagement, and turnover intention. Primary data were collected by a questionnaire form that distributed via the internet; the study was used SPSS version 23, also Pearson Coefficient correlation, as well as Mann Whitney U test, have been used to investigate research hypotheses. The results of the study illustrated that there is a high level of job insecurity among employees in both countries, and there is a strong negative correlation between job insecurity and job engagement, on contrary, it was found a statistically strong positive correlation between job insecurity and turnover intention in both countries which can maintain generalization of results. The research suggests some recommendations to hotel managers to maintain and increase the job security of their employees as hiring the right of employee in the appropriate work, improving salaries and remuneration system, taking care of the working environment, keeping a flexible working schedule, involving employees in decision making, applying empowerment policy, train employees on new technology related to their work to facilitate their work, and setting clear and bias assessment factors to promote employees.

This research investigates customer perceptions of hospitality services at three main Egyptian he... more This research investigates customer perceptions of hospitality services at three main Egyptian heritage sites-Cairo, Luxor and Minia. The research evaluates service quality of hospitality services from the customer perspective in order to develop quality services that meet customer expectations and achieve customer satisfaction. A questionnaire, developed using SERVQUAL instrument, was distributed to customers in hotels around the three heritage sites. The findings showed a gap between customer expectations and perceptions of hospitality services, reflecting poor quality services and dissatisfaction with these services. The factors of quality hospitality service at these three Egyptian sites were identified to help hospitality managers and decision makers to provide their customers with appropriate service quality that meets international standards and also meet customer expectations.

This study investigated line staff's core competencies to their performance outcomes with an exis... more This study investigated line staff's core competencies to their performance outcomes with an existing performance appraisal system used at a five-star hotel in Saudi Arabia. A focus group was used to determine the initial core competency requirements for food and beverage line staff. Data were obtained from 260 survey questionnaires distributed to food and beverage managers, human resource managers, and hotel manager who were required to participate in this study. A survey questionnaire was conducted to analyze managers' expectations about line staff core competencies requirements, as well as their opinions about line staff performance outcomes in the food and beverage division at Saudi Arabia's five-star hotels. Nine scales representing managers' expectations about staff core competencies and three scales indicating employee performance outcomes were included. A deceptive analysis, correlation, and regression were used to find the relationship between the variables. The findings of the study indicated that there is a positive and significant relationship between line staff's core competencies and their performance outcomes, showing that improvement of core competencies could lead to better performance outcomes.

The social media has become the most important tool for marketing. However, measuring the effect ... more The social media has become the most important tool for marketing. However, measuring the effect of using social media pages on local restaurants' productivity and benefits is still lacking in Egypt. Eighteen local restaurants located in Cairo, Alexandria and Mansoura were used to identify opinions of restaurant owners or managers about measuring the effectiveness of using social media pages on their restaurants' performance, along with a customer questionnaire to explore to what extent they used social media to choose their local restaurants. The results showed that social media pages are becoming one of the most important marketing tools in local restaurants; and cheaper than traditional marketing tools. As a result, it is very important for restaurant managers to focus on social media pages to establish successful relationships with their customers.
