Pathological examinations consider the standard medical diagnosis protocols and play a critical and important role in the diagnosis process. Early tumor detection step in the diagnosis stage is obtained by the cytological testing of the breast image mainly based on the cell morphology and architecture distribution. In this paper, we present a localization methodology to predict and diagnosis the breast cancer type. The proposal relies on a fully automatic analysis of the fine needle biopsies for cytological images. A fully automatic isolation (cells detection) and filtration steps of the nuclei cells images are designed and implemented as a fully automatic computer-aid system to classify the nuclei cells type of the breast cancer by using such a powerful classification approach. Instead of relying on supervised classifiers such as an SVM and Neural Network, we proposed such robustness framew...

Design: Retrospective – observational. Participants: A total of 98 patients admitted for emergency surgery with COVID-19 infection and underwent preoperative CT chest scanning. Main outcome measurements: Incidence of clinical symptoms of COVID-19 infection upon presentation, imaging characteristics in chest CT and semi-quantitative CT severity score. Results: The median age of the study cohorts was 50 years (interquartile range (IQR): 40–60 years) and 52/98 (53.1%) were males. The most common symptoms were fever (80.6%) and cough (65.3%). 50/98 had positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) RT-PCR test prior to CT scan, while 48/98 had positive reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result returned after imaging. The imaging characteristics were bilateral infiltrates on CT of 90/98, with 70/98 of infiltrates located peripherally and 28/98 located peripherally and centrally. The most common disease pattern was ground-glass opacities, observed in 95/98. The median total COVID-19 CT severity score was 7 (IQR: 4–14), corresponding to 5–25% global lung involvement. Conclusion: Patients with mild symptomatic COVID-19 in this study displayed CT evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Preoperative CT imaging should be considered for identifying suspected active SARS-CoV-2 cases in resource limited environments with high community spread, to aid in resource allocation and personal protective equipment (PPE) rationing.

Accurate diagnosis of this disease can ensure a survival of the patients. This paper presents an analysis of digital histopathology Breast cancer based on cytological images of Fine Needle Biopsy (FNB). The main approach of this study is relying on a localization approach for nuclei cell (cell detection). the nuclei are estimated by circular shape using the Circular Hough Transform (CHT). Then, the cells that have been detected by the (CHT) are then filtered to keep only high-quality and accurate cells that have been estimated for further analysis by using a supervised learning approach. In order to filter the nuclei cells and classify the detected circles as correct (cells) or incorrect Support Vector Machine (SVM) as an approa...

Mass flow rate in this study refers to the amount of air-fuel mixture passing through the intake port per second (g/s). The mass flow in the intake port was studied with the help of the Ansys Workbench simulation. The intake port in the cylinder head is symmetrical. Thus, only half part is used for the simulation. During the simulation, the pressure of the air-fuel mixture applied to the intake port remained constant and the valve was held fixed ranging between 4 mm to 10 mm, as is typically done in superflow bench test. Then, the mass flow rate is recorded corresponding to the valve lifts. The simulation tests were carried out by using a HP workstation computer at Automotive Development Centre (ADC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In this study, several modifications were made to the intake port geometry. Simulation is carried out using all intake ports. It was found that each intake port has its own mass flow rate value. One of the best intake ports in this study has an improvement of mass flow rate up to 7.1% at 8mm valve lift. The mass flow rate increase if air flow has a better attachment to the surface. Theoretically, the perfect intake port is completely straight. The straight and large diameter intake port is more suitable for high valve lifts. The activity presented in this paper is focused on the relationship between mass flow rate and the intake port geometry in the cylinder head. Clinical and sociodemographic determinants of LEA in people with diabetes are well known. However, the role of service-related factors has been less well explored. Early referral to secondary healthcare is assumed to prevent the occurrence of LEA. The objective of this study is to investigate a possible association between the timing of patient access to secondary healthcare services for diabetes management, as a key marker of service-related factors, and LEA in patients with diabetes. This is a case-control study. The source population is people with diabetes. Cases will be people with diabetes who have undergone a first major LEA, identified from the hospital discharge data at each of three regional centres for diabetes care. Controls will be patients with diabetes without LEA admitted to the same centre either electively or as an emergency. Frequency-matching will be appli...
