This paper presents the finding of an exploratory study on healing garden elements in healthcare facilities. The purpose of the paper is to find the elements of healing gardens and its healing factors in the existing garden design. In conducting this research study, site observation and informal interview at selected healthcare facilities have been performed. The study reveals the elements of existing garden design, the interactivity and the end users expectation on a garden. The finding shows that lacking some of the elements of garden design lead to less user friendliness and interactivity in the garden. It also shows that the visibility, accessibility, quietness and comfortable condition in the garden give impact to the utilization of the garden.

Simple space dose not means scanty design, conversely, simple design in heritage area consists a profound meanings and reflects the original aesthetic value of that space. The design of shophouse as a formation is simple raw building, contained three to four main zones. While, shophouse interior space reflects the value of community and rich culture by using simplicity as a factor to present the complex feelings and meanings in one place. Georgetown is the capital city of Penang, Malaysia, which populated by harmonized mixture of communities, this mix-culture influent the architecture and interior style of the city. As a result, eclectic architecture style created and become a staples of Georgetown. Therefore, it listed as World Heritage City in 2008 by UNESCO. This study intends to investigate the accessibility of visual impaired passengers regards to interior design of Kelana Jaya Line LRT station. The access audit was evaluated at core area, transition area and peripheral area of selected LRT stations by using site observation and interview research method. A standard checklist was taken in accordance to the Malaysia Standards Code of Practice for Access of Disabled People to Public Buildings (MS1184:2002).The result shows that, although most of the stations accommodate access for disabled people however the design of facilities provided was not fully incorporate with standard requirement and user-friendly. These lead barriers to independent living for persons with disability. As a conclusion, aside from providing a complete of public access facilities, comprehension of social sensitiv...

Auto-showrooms play a vital role in showcasing the cars. The automotive brand had become a major theme to design the auto-showrooms exterior and interior environment, The study aims to determine the role of design (as a set of visual elements) to express the place identity within the interior spaces for showrooms, and how design affects the visitor's perception. The researchers developed the observational techniques in performing this study. The findings show that design plays a clear role on the visitors’ perception of showroom identification via highlighting the automotive brands.

The impact of such development on the identity of nations and global design platforms is significant. Diminishing barriers among societies has helped to spread creative ideas. Recognizing the direction of designs is supposed to develop the lifestyle of nations, cultures, and identities through interior design spaces and their elements such as furniture. The first step to a sustainable creativity goes through an identification stage that upholds the satisfaction of products’ users. Through the identification stage, furniture designers encounter some challenges that are mostly related to the cultural significance of an object before starting to develop that object, especially within the context of a different approach. This paper presents the concept of the cultural significance of objects. It also highlights and illustrates the relations between cultural levels and types of meanings that can be reflected by certain objects...

Flexibility characteristic is one of these new add. There are many types of flexibility according to the level of use. Interior design environment for small spaces is a new generation of interior design strategy. The idea of how willing to live within the limited space is an important problem faced by most of the users in how to furnish it to achieve uses economical, functional, and aesthetic needs. Identifying the role of interior design strategies is important for addressing those needs. There are important elements of design have special contribute to the optimal exploitation of compact interior space to reach users' needs. The main elements of design can be used to achieve human needs are flexibility and simplicity as a main mechanism to generate interior space, in order to achieve the requirements of function and design to be adapted success...

The interior design process addresses the users’ minds by implication and expression of effectiveness. The sense perception is a stage of mental perception, which ideas and meaning are moving from the designers’ mind to real material and meaning, which realized by the recipient’s senses. Recipient realized the ideas and meanings by matching process for what was realized with mental images, depending on the output format in the space.
