Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABC) are blood-filled, locally destructive, expansile lesions of the bone.... more Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABC) are blood-filled, locally destructive, expansile lesions of the bone. ABC of the proximal femur is usually unilateral in presentation. As far as the English literature is concerned, there is no case report of bilateral involvement of the proximal femur by primary ABC. We hereby present a rare case of bilateral primary ABC of the proximal femur with pathological fracture of the right femoral neck. The patient underwent right hip hemiarthroplasty and open biopsy and curettage of the left proximal femur. ABC is usually unilateral in location. Whenever there is a bilateral lesion in the proximal femur usually ABC is not suspected as a differential diagnosis, but ABC may have a bilateral presentation.

At the time of presentation, the patient mainly complained of loss of active extension of the knee in the sitting position and a palpable gap over the upper part of the patella. After radiographic evaluation, a diagnosis of SF was made. The patient was managed surgically, and thereafter, early rehabilitation was done. After 10 weeks post-surgery, the patient was free from any pain, had a full range of motion, and was able to walk without support. Conclusion: Adults presenting with acute injury to knee with limitation of extension and palpable gap over the superior pole of the patella, a differential diagnosis of SF must be suspected and should be ruled out by clinical examination and relevant investigations. Introduction: Sleeve fracture (SF) represents an unusual type of patellar fracture and has been reported mainly in children or adolescents. Superior pole fracture in adults is a very rare occurrence because the enthesis of the adult patella is more resilient to avulsion injury as compared to an immature pediatric skeleton. Due to the rarity of these fractures in adults and vague radiographic findings, the chances of missing the fracture are very high.

Whether a drain offers an advantage in terms of pain, swelling, and functional outcome after arthroscopy-assisted reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) needs to be investigated. This study was designed to assess the validity of the use of an intra-articular drain after routine arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and to assess the various complications associated with its use. Material and methods Forty-four patients (group I included patients for whom an intra-articular drain was used and group II included patients for whom an intra-articular drain was not used) diagnosed with ACL injury were included in the study. The patients in group I had a drain placed inside the joint, while those in group II had a drain placed outside the joint cavity but the drain placement was such that there remained no patient or observer bias. Results Outcome assessment was performed on days ...

Introduction: India, with 1.34 billion people is the second most populated country in the world, ... more Introduction: India, with 1.34 billion people is the second most populated country in the world, while china is on the top with over 1.41 billion people. Total fertility rate of India is 2.2 and the current total fertility rate of U.P is 3.72 which is still lagging behind other states like Kerela, Tamilnadu. Since the inception of program, several knowledge, attitude and practices studies have been conducted. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional descriptive study was done in department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Era's Lucknow medical college, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The study group include 523 married women of reproductive age group attending Gynaecology OPD. The results are presented in frequencies and percentages. Chi-square test is used for comparisons. The p-value<0.05 was considered significant. All the analysis was carried out on SPSS 16.0 version (Chicago, Inc., USA). Results: Among the 523 women of reproductive age group maximum respondents belong to age group 21-30 years (78.77%). Most of the contraceptive non-users belongs to age below 20 years (64.7%) which is statically significant (p value=0.008). among respondents majority were Hindus (64.2%). Majority of respondents belongs to lower class (49%). Among lower class 67% respondents were non-contraceptive users. Among the temporary methods, condom is the wellknown method, 78.8% and second most is oral contraceptives 76.1% followed by intrauterine devices (75.5%). Only 9.9% women knew about injectables. 77.8% women had positive attitude towards contraceptive usage and they would like to encourage others also for contraceptive usage. 64.9% women not practicing any family planning methods because of lack of knowledge while 18.7% women not using any contraceptive methods because of fear of side effects. Conclusion: In our study we observed that with increasing educational status and socioeconomic status contraceptive practices is increasing. We need more services to improve women's education and proper family planning counseling to allay the anxiety and fear about contraceptive usage. Also, women should be educated regarding available modern contraceptive methods.

Approximately 30% of maternal deaths are caused by ante-partum haemorrhage. In spite of a lot of improvement in antenatal care and intrapartum surveillance, antepar-tum haemorrhage has not reduced. Present study was conducted to assess the causes of APH and to compare the fetomaternal outcome among placenta previa and abruptio placenta group. Methods: The study was conducted in BRD medical college Gorakhpur, over a period of 1 year (October 2019 to September 2020) in which 100 cases of APH were taken and classified into placenta previa and abruptio placenta group and their fetomaternal outcome were compared. Results: In our study, out of 100 cases of APH 69% cases were of placenta previa followed by abruptio placen-ta in 29% cases and rest 2% cases were unclassified APH.
