The aim of this study was to design and implement educational programs on regular uptake of food supplements during pregnancy among pregnant women in west of Iran; BASNEF model was applied as theoretical framework. Overall, 88 pregnant women were selected randomly to participate in this study as intervention and control group. Present study designed to be an interventional-experimental study. Cross-tabulation and t-test through using SPSS statistical package, version 16, were used for statistical analysis. Our findings indicated that mean scores of knowledge and BASNEF Model variables were significantly increased in the experi- mental group compared to the controls immediately after and two months after intervention. Also, supplements behavior us- age (81.56% before intervention, 92.17 % after intervention and 99.24% two months after intervention in experimental group) improved significantly among experimental group, compared to control group which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). It seems that designing and implementing educational intervention based on BASNEF Model to regular uptake of food supplements during pregnancy among pregnant women could be a beneficial result to increase women health.

This study aimed to model the survival in patients with HIV in the presence of these competing causes of death utilizing sub-distribution hazard (SDH) and cause-specific hazard (CSH) models to overcome biased estimates of the classical analyses. In this longitudinal study, patients with HIV+ diagnosis (n = 2328) were recruited from Imam Khomeini and Zamzam consulting centers from 2003 to 2012. In the presence of the competing causes of death, the SDH and CSH models evaluated the effect of underlying predictors on the cumulative incidence and instantaneous hazards, respectively, with the cmprisk package in R4.1 software. The median survival time of patients with AIDS+TB, AIDS and other causes were 7.79 (SE .84), 11.57 (SE .98), and 14.1 (SE .91), respectively. In the SDH model, CD4(350+) [AIDS: sub-distribution hazard ratio (SHR) = .13, 95% confidence interval(CI) = (.08–.19)); AIDS+TB .10(.04–.25)], antiretroviral therapy (ART) [AIDS .44(.32–.61); AIDS+TB .57(.31–.99); other .07(.02–.23)], isoniazid prophylaxis therapy (IPT) [AIDS .47(.28–.78); AIDS+TB .08(.01–.58)], and cotrimoxazole prophylaxis therapy (CPT) [AIDS .38(.22–.68)], were inversely related to hazard of death, while being a male [AIDS 2.62(1.574.39); AIDS+TB 10.43(2.32–46.83); Other 9.48(1.95–45.99)] was directly related to hazard of death. The CSH model resulted in similar estimates except for CD4(350+) which was inversely related to hazard of death by other causes. Taking into account the strong association of CD4(350+), ART, IPT, CPT, and being a male with the hazard of mortality caused by the competing causes of death in patients with HIV, in both SDH and CSH models, designing sex-specific policymaking and interventional programs are recommended to prolong the survival of patients with HIV. The future treatment program can utilize the results.

The findings of this research can clear the possible progress made thus far toward prevention in this part of the country. The data of all referees to genetic center of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Hamadan, including the rubella and CMV tests were recorded in questionnaires and analyzed by logistic regression models. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were utilized to assess the affected factors on CMV and Rubella separately. STATA and SPSS16 statistical software were used with setting P-value as 0.05. Logistic regression analysis indicates a statistically significant relationship between CMV IgM and on occupation (P=0.045), pregnancy (P=0.03) and years of referring the patients (P<0.001). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that job was significantly affected on the CMV infection [OR (95% C.I) = 1.71(1.1-2.83)]. Univariate logistic regression showe...

So, identifying its important correlates using more reliable statistical models, instead of inefficient traditional variable selection methods like stepwise regression, is of great importance. The objective of this study was to investigate correlates of psychiatric distress among college students in Iran; using group smoothly clipped absolute deviation method (SCAD). Methods A number of 1259 voluntary college students participated in this cross-sectional study (Jan-May 2016) at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire consisting of demographic information, a behavioral risk factors checklist and the GHQ-28 questionnaire (with a cut-off of 23 to measure psychiatric distress, recommended by the Iranian version of the questionnaire). Penalized logistic regression with a group-SCAD regularization method was used to analyze the data (α = 0.05)...
