There is also a Kantian flavor involved-though more flexible than his categories and "schematism". Human beings do cognize and act only by schematizing, i.e. by activating or using schemes. They are essentially schematizing beings and even, characteristically, meta-schematizing creatures: they would not only use schemata but can and do also talk about such schemes, patterns, structures, frames, conceptual schemata, configurations, construct(ion)s etc. on higher (meta-)levels. Activating and using schemes may be understood as interpreting. Forming, activating, understanding and applying schemes in the widest possible sense, are processes, if structural or exploratory etc. These are interpretative activities (see diagrams below).

There was hardly time for anything except daily workouts, travelling, regattas, races, racing and training times, exercise, trimming boats, variations in condition, tactics, strategy, heatlth, recovery, nutrition. Rowing seemed to be the most important thing in the world. The sporting myth caught imagination and built up motivation. To participate, being in the team and swing of things would amount to the top adventure of an active life: here as a cooperative endeavour by the crew highlighting and fulfilling a mythical dream: a jointventure as an outcome of total determination and devotion by the crew and coach emerged, the climax and fulfilment of our "mythical" dream. Indeed, "the eights-that is the team per se..-"The Eight − it's the crew per se," wrote poet Hagelstange about our Blue Ribbon race of Rome" (Noel-Baker).

Various kinds and levels of responsibility are distinguished in terms of action (causal) responsibility, of task and role responsibility, and of universal moral and legal responsibilities as well as from institutional and association perspectives. Some problems of ascribing, justifying, and distributing responsibility are discussed. Some professional codes of ethics in science and technology and characteristic responsibility conflicts are mentioned and 20 priority rules that help deal with or solve these.
