Silivri, which is a county of Istanbul, is one of the locations occurred the flooding and settlements and industrial areas were affected. The reasons of the flooding on the Tuzla stream, which is located in the county district, were investigated using field works after the flood event and existing digital data of the Tuzla stream watershed. As a result, physiographic characteristics of the watershed and some misapplications and mislanduses on the Tuzla stream channel and its floodplain were found as reasons of the flooding besides rainfall. Also, floods will still occur as long as mislanduses keep in the floodplain area. Keywords: Flood, Mislanduse, Physiographic Feature, Tuzla Stream.

Kackar Mountain was affected from the Pleistocene glaciations and especially it has typical glacial erosion and deposition landforms based on last glaciations occurred nearly 18,500 years ago. These landforms are typical examples of glacial topography in Turkey and they have not been damaged. Nevertheless, this area contains glacial, periglacial and fluvial topography together as polycyclic and polygenic character. Although these factors and processes effected to north and south slopes of Kackar Mountain are the same, glacial and periglacial landforms in both sides developed in different sizes and characters due to aspect effect. The main goal of the study is to expose the effect of aspect in development of glacial and periglacial topography at the north and south slopes of Kackar Mountain. For this p...

Arnold subsp. nigra var. caramenica (Loudon) Rehder] was evaluated. Specimens were subjected to heat under atmospheric pressure at 3 different temperature (130, 180 and 230°C) and 2 different time levels (2 and 8 h). The value of D m , D 0 , β, α, FSP, EMC, σ c// , σ b , MOE, holocellulose, 1% NaOH and alcohol solubility decreased, whereas, lignin content increased depending on the heating temperature and the time. Cellulose crystallinity of the specimens was not changed significantly. 130°C showed minimum effect, on the other hand, 230°C showed maximum effect on all properties of treated wood. Accordingly, for heat treatment process, 130°C for 2 h should be applied in place where mechanical properties are important. However, 230°C for 2 h should be used in place where a physical property is preferred. Consequently, heat treated Anatolian black pine woods could be utilized in applications for several purposes such as kitchen furniture, outdoor furniture and windows frames.

Effects of theophylline, lidocaine, cyclophosphamide, hyoscine N-butyl bromide, tranexamic acid a... more Effects of theophylline, lidocaine, cyclophosphamide, hyoscine N-butyl bromide, tranexamic acid and cytarabine on hexokinase (HK) from human erythrocytes have been investigated in vitro. In addition, in vivo effects of theophylline and lidocaine were investigated in rats. HK was purified from human red blood cells by DEAE-Sephadex A50 ion exchange chromatography. HK activity was measured spectrophotometrically at 25 degrees C in a system coupled with glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, according to Beutler's method at 340 nm. Cyclophosphamide, hyoscine N-butyl bromide, tranexamic acid and cytarabine had no effects on human erythrocyte HK activity in in vitro conditions. On the other hand, human erythrocyte HK was inhibited by theophylline, but activated by lidocaine. IC50 value for theophylline was 0.013 M. In the case of in vivo studies, 6 mg kg(-1) of theophylline inhibited the rat HK activity by 43% at the first 1.5 h (p < 0.001). A dose of 5 mg kg(-1) of lidocaine activate...
