Material and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire distributed to 94 dental technicians between 25th September 2023 and 28th November 2023. Results: The laboratory form was the main means of communication between the dental office and the prosthesis laboratory (98.9%). 25.5% of the laboratory forms received were completed to enable prosthetists to carry out their work, while 31.9% of these forms included a minimum of information. The gender of the patient was always indicated on the laboratory form according to 66% of dental technicians. Age was never mentioned according to 42.6% of laboratory technicians. 51.1% of dental technicians received both physical and digital impressions, while 9.6% of the laboratories surveyed received only digital impressions. 92.6% of the dental laboratories confirmed that the introduction of digital tools in the dental office and laboratory has a significant impact on improving dental team communication. 57.4% of laboratory technicians were very satisfied with their communication with dentists, 35.1% were moderately satisfied and 7.4% reported extreme dissatisfaction with the quality of this communication. Conclusion: To ensure long-term collaboration between dentists and laboratory technicians, good communication is essential. This involves both making efforts to effectively use traditional communication tools such as the laboratory form and investing in digital technology.

Purpose: The objective of this survey was to determine the use of communication of aesthetic data (shape, dimension, color, etc.) between the dentist and the laboratory technician to improve the aesthetic result Material and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 94 dental technicians in Casablanca, Morocco. Results: 30.09% of dentists had often reported to the laboratory technician the patient's expectations in aesthetic restoration to produce prostheses that matched patient aesthetic requests. Dentists mainly used temporary restorative dental impressions (66.6%) and photographs with temporary prostheses (55.3%) for transferring the dimensions and shapes of crowns to the laboratory. 75.5% of dentists always used shade guide and 53.2% of dental technicians rarely made visual assessments of the patient for shade matching. Conclusion: The communication of aesthetic data between the dentist and the laboratory technician involves efforts from both parties for the effective use of communication tools and investment in advanced digital devices for better management of patients' aesthetic requests.

Research paper thumbnail of Impact of Surface Treatments on the Roughness Surface and Fracture Pattern of Zirconia Ceramic Restorations

European Journal of Dental and Oral Health, Mar 22, 2022

Material and method: We conducted a systematic literature search on the electronic databases PubMed and Science direct using 12 key words via Boolean equations. We identified articles that met the eligibility criteria by checking the title and abstract. A full-text review was used to select articles based on the CASP grid. (The Critical Skills Appraisal Programme) Results: 13 articles were selected after reading the full text. We noted a predominance of mixed failure in our study. Conclusion: Sandblasting before sintering is a recommended method to increase surface roughness and improve the bond strength of the cosmetic ceramic. The mixed fracture mode is the most frequent mode in our study. Further clinical studies with standardization of protocols should be conducted.

Conventional bridges are considered the standard treatment for single missing teeth with a good clinical outcome, but it is an invasive treatment. The introduction of new ceramic materials becomes a useful treatment option for premolar and molar replacement, and high demand of conservative restoration with metal free materials has become more important for both, clinicians and patients. The present article is a case report that present a patient who was treated by a resin-bonded zirconia bridge showing a follow up of seven years.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a 22-question questionnaire was sent to 309 practitioners randomly selected from a list provided by the South Regional Council of Dental Registry. Average significance and Chi-square tests were used to identify the frequency, pattern, and significance of the response variables identified. Results: The response rate of our study was 79,6%. Our survey revealed that 52,4% of practitioners use resinbonded prosthesis in their daily practice. For the 47,6% who avoided it, the principal reasons were lack of training and the high price of bonding products. 81,1% of dentists have reported the need of continuing training in adhesive prosthesis and the type of training the most chosen was practical workshops for 55,5% of practitioners.
