In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes are easily compromised due to their restricted hardware... more In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes are easily compromised due to their restricted hardware resources. These compromised nodes inject fabricated votes into legitimate reports, and generate false report and false vote injection attacks. These attacks deplete energy resources and block report transmission. A probabilistic voting-based filtering scheme was proposed to detect the bogus votes in reports en-route to protect against attacks. Although this method detects false votes in intermediate nodes, the sensor network needs to be effectively operated in consideration of a node's conditions. In this paper, the proposed method selects effective verification nodes by considering the condition of nodes based on a fuzzy logic system. In the proposed method, the intermediate node selects between two next hop nodes in its range through a fuzzy logic system before forwarding the report. Experimental results suggest that, compared to the original method, the proposed method improves energy savings up to 11% while maintaining a high security level.

This paper investigates modelling of NTC thermistors using Steinhart-Hart equation for generic mo... more This paper investigates modelling of NTC thermistors using Steinhart-Hart equation for generic model generation and then parsing the same through the linearization algorithm based on Levenberg–Marquart back propagation technique with sigmoid activation function. The entire modelling and scripting of the linearization algorithm has been accomplished in the MATLAB paradigm. The results showcase small linearity error optimal in the chebyshev norms. The reported technique has a potential for linearization of other impedance based non-linear sensors as well. Further work is in progress to integrate the algorithm as a soft IP core in a full custom or semi-custom ASIC wherein thermistors are employed as sensors.
Cadmium iodate [Cd (IO3)2] crystals were grown by single diffusion gel technique. Growth conditio... more Cadmium iodate [Cd (IO3)2] crystals were grown by single diffusion gel technique. Growth conditions were optimized. Optimum growth conditions are reported. The crystals were doped by impurities such as Cu+2 and Fe+3. Structure of crystals was confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction method. Effect of doping on structure is studied. Slight change in lattice parameter values is reported. Thermal studies of doped and undoped crystals are reported. Thermal analysis exhibits two steps explicitly on heating the samples. The first step involves decomposition reaction in the temperature range 500 - 5800C, giving products Cd5 (IO6)2, I2, and O2. In the second step, decomposition reaction in the temperature range 580 - 6200C, yields solid product, Cd5 (IO4)2 after reaction. Powder second harmonic generation experiments prove nonlinear nature of the substance. Nonlinear coefficient values,‘d’ of doped and undoped samples are reported. Cu +2 doped samples stop the generation of second harmonic signal. Fe+3 doped samples generate second harmonic signal, but the value of nonlinear coefficient is smaller than undoped sample.

Feature selection is a measure issue in face recognition. This paper proposes a survey on face recognition. There are many methods to extract face features. In some advanced methods it can be extracted faster in a single scan through the raw image and lie in a lower dimensional space, but still retaining facial information efficiently. The methods which are used to extract features are robust to low-resolution images. The method is a trainable system for selecting face features. After the feature selection procedure next procedure is matching for face recognition. The recognition accuracy is increased by advanced methods.

COCOMO model is not capable of estimating the close approximations to the actual cost, because it runs in the form of linear. So, the models should be adapted that simultaneously with the number of Lines of Code (LOC) has the ability to estimate in a fair and accurate fashion for effort factors. Meta-heuristic algorithms can be a good model for SCE due to the ability of local and global search. In this paper, we have used the hybrid of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE) for the SCE. Test results on NASA60 software dataset show that the rate of Mean Magnitude of Relative Error (MMRE) error on hybrid model, in comparison with COCOMO model is reduced to about 9.55%.

In the literature several techniques and algorithms have been discussed for anomaly detection. In the most of cases true positive and false positive parameters have been used to compare their performance. However, depending upon the application a wrong true positive or wrong false positive may have severe detrimental effects. This necessitates inclusion of cost sensitive parameters in the performance. Moreover the most common testing dataset KDD-CUP-99 has huge size of data which intern require certain amount of pre-processing. Our work in this paper starts with enumerating the necessity of cost sensitive analysis with some real life examples. After discussing KDD-CUP-99 an approach is proposed for feature elimination and then features selection to reduce the number of more relevant features directly and size of KDD-CUP-99 indirectly. From the reported literature general methods for anomaly detection are selected which perform best for different types of attacks. These different classifiers are clubbed to form an ensemble. A cost opportunistic technique is suggested to allocate the relative weights to classifiers ensemble for generating the final result. The cost sensitivity of true positive and false positive results is done and a method is proposed to select the elements of cost sensitivity metrics for further improving the results to achieve the overall better performance. The impact on performance trade of due to incorporating the cost sensitivity is discussed. emergency messages all over the VANET. However, it also results in unwanted flooding of messages which
causes severe contention and collisions in VANETs leading to Broadcast Storm Problem (BSP) and in turn
affects the overall performance of VANETs. A Multitude of research work have proposed Broadcast Storm
Suppression Algorithms (BSSA) to control this Broadcast Storm. These mechanisms tried to control BSP by
either reducing the number of rebroadcasting/ relaying nodes or by identifying the best relay node. The
suppression mechanisms help to overcome BSP to certain extent, still there is need to still reduce the
number of rebroadcasting nodes in existing mechanisms and also to identify the best possible
rebroadcasting node. This would help to mitigate BSP completely and efficiently. This paper presents a
comparative analysis of various prominent BSSA in order to identify the underlying issues and challenges
in controlling BSP completely. The outcome of this paper would provide the requirements for developing
an efficient BSSA overcoming the identified issues and challenges.

This paper deals with a CMOS standard-cell ASIC implementation of a SoC (System on Chip) based on the OpenRISC processor for Voice over IP (VoIP) application; where a hybrid approach is adopted. The architecture of the design is mainly based on the reuse of IPs cores described at the RTL level. This RTL code is technology-independent; hence the design can be ported easily from FPGA to ASIC. Results show that the SoC occupied the area of 2.64mm². Regarding the power consumption, RTL power estimation is given.
